SUBJECT: Selection of Three Nominees to the Hollywood Burbank Airport Citizen’ s Advisory Committee
RECOMMENDATION
Select three nominees to serve on the Hollywood Burbank Airport Citizen’s Advisory Committee.
BACKGROUND
On March 28, 2024, the City Manager ’s Office received a letter from the Executive Director of the Hollywood Burbank Airport (Attachment 1) , requesting the nomination of three Burbank residents to serve on the newly created Hollywood Burbank Airport Citizen’s Advisory Committee (CAC) to be appointed by the BurbankGlendale P
asadena
Airport Authority Commission (Airport Authority). The CAC will be a nine me mber
advisory body comprised of three members from each of the cities of Burbank, Glendale, and Pasadena. The CAC will gather public input on airplane noise issues associated with the airport, as well as assist in the update of the Authority ’s Noise Exposure Map and Noise Compatibility Program.
CA
C meetings will be conducted in accordance with the Brown Act and are expected to be held on a quarterly basis. The term of the appointment is for approximately 18 months and, to maximize community participation, the Airport Authority has decided that elected officials, staff members of elected officials, and candidates for elective office would not be eligible to serve. The City Council’s recommendations will reasonably be deferred to, but the Airport Authority reserves the right to reject any nomination and appoint an alternative person at its discretion. Please note the City requested clarification that if a
nominee were rejected, the Airport Authority would ask the City Council to provide an alternate nominee.
