RE: City of Burbank’s Support for the President’s Proposal Pertaining to the Middle East

On behalf of the City of Burbank, the Burbank City Council submits this letter of support for the President’s Middle East proposal. We recognize the significant impact that the prolonged and ongoing conflict in the Middle East has had on countless American citizens, to include many within our Burbank community. As a local government, we are committed to advocating for the well -being of our residents who have been impacted by this crisis, as well as those across the country and world who continue to be affected.
We are writing to express our strong and united support for the comprehensive proposal presented by the President on May 31, 2024, and adopted as a resolution by the United Nations Security Council on June 10, 2024, aimed at achieving lasting resolution to the conflict in the Middle East. We commend the nation’s dedication to pursuing a solution that prioritizes the well-being and security of all parties involved.
The City of Burbank is a community that values and f osters a culture of diversity, inclusivity, equity, and peace . Our city understands the importance of international diplomacy in addressing complex and multifaceted global challenges. The proposal’s phased approach to a full ceasefire, distribution of humanitarian aid, and negotiations for sustainable peace resonate deeply with our city’s commitment to humanitarianism and global stability.
As you continue to navigate the complex and diplomatic negotiations toward peace, you have the unwavering support of our city.
