Why are you interested in serving on a board, commission or committee? I am a native Californian living in Burbank for fifty years. Our family has participated in and donated to Burbank-Youth Sports, after school activities, PTA and we have volunteered to elect School Board Members. I feel it is important for me to use my years of experiences related to Water and Power Planning and Operations and volunteer some time to the Burbank Water and Power Board. Our family business was based in Burbank for more than 15 years. I’m very aware of Codes and Ordinances and applicable Water and Power operations and procedures. I have in depth (hands on) experience working in Power Generation Operations With the population growth being experienced in Burbank, resulting in increasing demands on the power grid by electric vehicles, thousands of new residential apartment units, office towers, sound stages, and the airport expansions, I will be a valuable asset to the Burbank Water and Power Board.

Why are you interested in serving on a board, commission or committee? As a lifelong Burbank resident, I have always had the greatest sense of pride in this wonderful community that has raised me. As a product of the Burbank school system, parks and recreation youth programs, and even with my first job during high school working at the Verdugo pool; Burbank is a part of my life. I would like this connection to continue to strengthen. What's more, working in public service, I take great pleasure in being able to transfer my professional skills through the volunteerism that is serving as a member of the Burbank Water and Power Board. This community continues to give me so much, and to that end, I believe it's my responsibility to continue to give back. Along with this, I have come to realize that working alongside BWP staff has taught me so much more about this City, that I would love to continue working with them to carry forward our community's goals as we build on Burbank's future together.

Describe any qualifications, experience, and education, as well as any technical or professional background you may have relative to the duties of this position.

As a current member of the BWP Board, I take great pride in continuously being a prepared, productive, and contributing member of the Board. My years of experience on the Board have taught me many of the principles necessary to effectively carry out the duties of a complex position such as this. Additionally, in my current professional capacity as a City Manager, I have developed a strong proficiency in the critical areas needed to be a public servant. Just a few of these areas include the ability to listen to members of the public with empathy, own criticism when provided and attempt to understand what's driving it, and balance the needs of the organization with those of the individuals it's meant to serve. With significant training in public sector finance, budget development and cost of service studies, my professional and educational experiences have prepared me to continue to contribute at the highest capacity possible as a member of the BWP Board. Having worked for multiple cities, I have a strong appreciation and pride for what it means to serve the public's trust, and to bridge that trust with staff when considering difficult topics that may come before us.

My professional experiences working in municipal government administration has equipped me to properly weigh a wide array of policy matters and understand the breadth of consequences, positive or otherwise, in various decisions. Additionally in my professional capacity, I have also served as an alternate Board Member on the Clean Power Alliance, and the Measure W North Santa Monica Bay Watershed Area Steering Committee and a local Homelessness Working Group.

What are your goals in serving on this Board/Commission/Committee? Burbank Water & Power is known across the industry, and more importantly, across the community as one of the most reliable utilities around. BWP has three key principles:

Reliability, Affordability, and Sustainability. One of my primary goals is to not only support these principles, but further them in new and creative ways so that BWP can continue to be one of the highest points of pride in our community. As BWP is transitioning leadership under our new General Manager, as a Board Member, I strive to work hand in hand with staff to further the goal we all share, serving the Burbank community. With the constant regulatory and fiscal pressures BWP is facing, we must continue to adapt to the changing landscape not only in Burbank, but in the state, and utility industry as a whole. My related goal will be to continue to build relationships across the public sector to help BWP respond to these changes. The BWP Board has seen significant transition over the past few years and I hope that my continued service during this time of staff transition will help be an asset of institutional knowledge to my fellow Board members, the community, and staff. Another of my goals is to make sure that BWP adapts in a way that not only is responsible, but responsive to the needs and wants of the community. Whether this is through helping to bolster more participation in Board meetings, or lending staff at community events to hear the voices of City, my aim will be to remain involved.

Why are you interested in serving on a board, commission or committee? My interest in serving on the Burbank Water and Power (BWP) Board is deeply rooted in my commitment to public service and my passion for improving our community. Having been a BWP board member for over 2 years, including serving as Chair during the past year, I’ve had the privilege of contributing to decisions that directly impact our city. During this time, I’ve actively participated in critical discussions related to the Integrated Resources Plan, the launch of innovative programs like Demand Response and Building Electrification, and key financial matters such as budget allocations and bond issuances. As Chair, I’ve worked closely with BWP staff to ensure that these proposals are meticulously developed, well- designed, and effectively communicated to the public and city council. My approach is grounded in practical problem-solving. I believe in finding real-world solutions that balance sustainability with the essential goal of providing safe, reliable, and affordable power to our community (with a focus on supporting disadvantaged communities). BWP is already a best- in-class utility, and I am committed to leveraging my expertise to drive even greater focus on sustainability while maintaining our commitment to excellence. I am honored to have made a positive impact on the city I call home, and I look forward to continuing this important work on the BWP Board.

Describe any qualifications, experience, and education, as well as any technical or professional background you may have relative to the duties of this position.

I have been working at large electric utilities for over 10 years. My experience has ranged from transmission and distribution to energy innovation to customer programs and regulatory. I focus on driving innovation through pragmatic solutions that diverse stakeholders can rally around. I have experience working on smart grid technologies, energy innovation, renewable energy, electric vehicles, energy efficiency, and clean energy programs, all with the goal of driving to a sustainable, carbon free economy.

In my current
role as Senior Manager of Codes and Standards at Southern California Edison (SCE), I lead a team of engineers, program managers, and support staff focused on energy codes and standards. The team is responsible for advocacy and compliance with more efficient building and appliance standards at the federal, state, and local levels. We are responsible for thinking 10 or more years into the future and developing the processes and roadmaps to prepare. The team is also responsible for helping local governments with sustainability plans, reach codes, and carbon reduction strategies and implementation of the nation's first GHG emissions incentive program (the Clean Energy Optimization Pilot; CEOP).

Prior to that, I
worked at SCE as a Sr. Advisor focused on DSM Planning, Integration, and Strategy. In this role, I led the development of an $1.56B energy efficiency application for 2024-2027 and I co-led the development and implementation of the CEOP. In these examples, I took a solution from conceptual design to regulatory application to successful implementation.

CEOP is a first-of-its-kind performance-based program designed to incent UC and CSU Christopher G Malotte
campuses to reduce GHG emissions. The program has proven very successful leading the campuses to save over 200,000 tons of GHG emissions.

Before coming to SCE, I worked at
Arizona Public Service (APS) in the Smart Grid Planning department as a Smart Grid Analyst.

While there, I managed an executive level Operation Technology Advisory Committee, which assessed various new technologies and their potential impact on the company. In this role, I interacted with internal executives, external key industry leaders, and technology innovation organizations (including EPRI, NREL, and SEPA). My vision for BWP’s future is to accelerate our
progress in customer-focused programs, renewable energy adoption, and conservation efforts. The urgency to combat climate change is greater than ever, and I am dedicated to ensuring that BWP leads the charge with actionable solutions.

As a parent and a ratepayer, I
deeply understand the necessity of balancing environmental initiatives with economic considerations. Ensuring affordable rates and maintaining a strong financial foundation are paramount to our success. Recognizing my position of privilege, I am determined to be a voice for underserved communities, seeking to ensure that their voices are incorporated into our decision-making process.

My tenure has allowed me to build strong relationships with the BWP staff and management. They are all dedicated civil servants working with the best interest of the community in mind and I would love to continue to be involved in shaping the direction of this organization.

I am eager to continue contributing to BWP’s legacy, steering our organization towards a future where innovation, community engagement, and environmental stewardship are the hallmarks of our service.
