Allowable Grounds for Eviction:
FOR RENT INCREASES
Rent reduction provisions apply to
decreases in housing services.
If a tenant experiences such a
reduction, in amenities (e.g., laundry
facilities, parking availability, etc.),
they may be entitled to a rent decrease.
Tenants must notify the landlord in
writing of the service reduction.
The decrease amount depends on the
extent and duration of the service
reduction.
The Rental Rights Program
prohibits landlords from allowing
rental units to fall into disrepair.
If a unit becomes uninhabitable
due to neglect, landlords must
provide temporary relocation
benefits, including lodging, meals,
and other accommodations.
Landlords cover costs, and tenants
must keep paying rent. If conditions
persist, tenants can terminate the
lease.
