Please do not accept the permit of 5G antenas being placed 294 feet from Our Village Preschool, 246 feet from McKinley Elementary School, 128 feet from Hrashq Preschool, and 688 feet from Delores Huerta Middle School.

This proximity significantly exceeds the recommended 1,640-foot setback from schools, homes, parks, nursing homes, and daycare centers advocated by leading experts. We urge the City Council to deny this permit and to establish common-sense regulations that prevent wireless communication facilities from being placed near our homes and schools. For the safety of our children.

It is disgusting that greedy people behind corporations don’t want to protect innocent children. It is absolutely abhorrent to willingly harm children. Obviously these laws were made BEFORE the new age of technology, so it would be the OBVIOUS choice to UPDATE them. Do better, be better, because if we don’t protect our future, the innocent lives of children… then who will?

The proposed 5G tower is simply too close to many places our Burbank kids learn and play together. We also need to have a policy to prevent these types of structures that emit mid-band radiation, which has been linked to several health risks, from being permanently placed so close to our children in the future. The corporate gain in this case is not worth the potential risk to the future of our community.

I am opposed to this 5G tower. As a concerned community member and parent, I am troubled by the health risks and environmental impact this may pose, given its proximity to a place where young children spend a lot of time.

Though research on the health effects of long-term exposure to 5G radiation is ongoing, numerous studies have raised questions about potential risks associated with such radiation, particularly for children. Leading health organizations, including the American Academy of Pediatrics, have expressed concern about the expansion of wireless technology near children.

I enroll my 2 year old son at Our Village Preschool, a school within 300ft of the proposed 5G tower locations. It is distressing that these locations would even be considered given that it is within such close proximity to several child care facilities including a public Burbank school. I urge the council to take ownership of the potential health problems they would be allowing should these towers be built. Please take this opportunity to put the safety of your youngest residents first and enact policy that would put sensible restrictions on where such towers could be located in the future.

I strongly oppose this cell tower as it is simply too close to several schools serving very young children.

As a concerned parent and resident of City of Burbank, I urge you to halt any plans to place a 5G tower near my daughter’s school. Mid-band 5G radiation carries potential health risks, especially for young children. FCC standards, established before 5G technology existed, are outdated. Please prioritize our children’s health by setting guidelines that restrict tower installations near schools.

It should be illegal to put this up so close to so many children. We need laws to PROTECT our kids!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

As a Burbank resident and parent with a young child at Our Village Preschool, I urge you to reconsider the appeal. The Children’s Health Defense sued the FCC in 2019, and won a 2021 ruling requiring the FCC to explain how its guidelines protect human health. An updated analysis from the FCC is not complete. Without knowing the risks and without current information or guidelines, the City should err on the side of caution. There are 3 schools within less than 300 feet of the towers. I'd urge the City reject the DISH proposal until better science is available. Thank you for your consideration.

Thank you for considering this item. While it is understandable why staff approved the permit originally based on City code or other regulations, I know you have since been provided with emerging research that questions the safety of placing such technology near schools. More research on this issue is needed, but it seems reasonable to err on the side of safety when it comes to kids who may be more susceptible to the type of radiation emitted. I ask that you therefore consider denying this permit in its current location to give parents one less thing to worry about.
