LETTER OF SUPPORT - CITY OF BURBANK'S PARKING MANAGEMENT STRATEGIES

FOR DOWNTOWN BURBANK
Mayor Schultz and Members of the Burbank City Council:

On behalf of the Downtown Burbank Property Based Business Improvement District (PBID) Board, we are pleased to submit this letter of support for the City of Burbank's parking management strategies for Downtown Burbank.

Downtown Burbank is a mixed-use urban neighborhood featuring more than 600 shops, restaurants and businesses. Situated in the heart of entertainment industry, this area is renowned for its dynamic street scene, outdoor dining, and pedestrian orientation. Shopping and dining destinations include IKEA, AMC, H&M, Shake Shack, and Burbank Town Center.

To better assist businesses, we need to address parking availability and turnover along the main streets in Downtown Burbank, particularly along San Fernando Boulevard. Convenient parking space availability is critical to the success of our businesses and should primarily be made available to customers rather than occupied by long-term parkers and employees. Implementing the City's parking management strategies will help meet the goals of the PBID, which include the following:
• Create opportunities to increase sales revenues for businesses through parking availability and increased accessibility to businesses; • Preserve and improve the aesthetics of Downtown Burbank through enhancements to capital infrastructure (i.e., parking structures and lots) with new parking revenue; and • Support the continued formation of a livable and walkable neighborhood.

PBID recommends the City of Burbank to implement their proposed parking management plan to increase availability of parking in Downtown Burbank .. This will have a positive impact for our residents, visitors, and businesses. Thank you for your time and consideration.
