Describe any qualifications, experience, and education, as well as any technical or professional background you may have relative to the duties of this position.
I bring hands-on experience in art and creative expression to this committee. As a former marketing and communications executive, I saw the impact that visual arts can have to promote and inspire those who view them. As a non-profit volunteer, I helped implement successful dance, music, written word, and live theater events that inspired audiences through storytelling. As a fundraising executive, I implemented campaigns that integrated carefully crafted visual presentations with event messaging to educate constituents and compel them to greater participation. Finally, in college I studied art history and learned the importance of the art-of-the-day to influence and reflect culture. Cultural Art enriches a community, cultivates aesthetic appreciation, and reflects a vision of public priorities.
What are your goals in serving on this Board/Commission/Committee? I believe that Burbank Cultural Arts should preserve the rich culture of the past, reflect the current culture of the community, and pave the way for future cultural innovations. My goals in serving on the Cultural Arts Commission are to collaborate with other commission members to 1) promote and stimulate general interest among the citizens of Burbank in performing arts, fine arts and other cultural arts, 2) encourage both private and public study and presentation of performing arts, fine arts and other cultural arts, 3) engage the community by sponsoring various public education, outreach, and promotional activities related to cultural arts, and 4) make Cultural Arts readily accessible to Burbank residents and visitors to the city.

Please tell us about yourself and why you want to serve.
Why are you interested in serving on a board, commission or committee? I'm feeling the call to become more involved in my city. I don't want a career in politics, but I do feel called to service, and maybe that's the type of motivation we need more people to answer in our government. I'd love to learn more about our city, how to continuously improve it, and be an active participant in helping our community. With my skillset in the arts and in organizing groups (producers essentially wrangle cats to make the impossible come to life, ha), this committee seems a natural fit.

Paula Rhodes
Paula Rhodes left the Midwest via the pageant circuit that all 5'0" of her had initially entered as a joke. After
snagging some crowns and a number of internships where
she learned she loved all sides of storytelling, she took her Advertising Degree and made first one coast, then the
other, her home, crackling along as a working actor.
Along the way, Paula has brought characters to life in
everything from Barbie and Bunk'd to the Resident Evil
universe, been cast in over 50 national commercials, won awards for screenplays, turned a fan film into getting the rights to a global comic franchise, produced 100+ projects ranging from award-winning series to a feature film she directed and starred in over the course of her actual
pregnancy that won the Audience Choice Award at Dances
with Films and got global distribution.
Paula especially adores examining big issues through a
whimsical lens and growing empathy via the power of
story. She loves what she does, and intends to touch a lot of hearts and minds while doing it.
She can also apparently write in third person.

Please tell us about yourself and why you want to serve.
Why are you interested in serving on a board, commission or committee? I have already been involved in adding two statues to add to the art seen in Burbank! The Batman:Hush installation in downtown, and the Wonder Woman statue closer to the WB lot.
These were both based on 9" statues for collectors that I art directed while at DC Direct/ WB consumer products. I worked directly with my sculptors and the American Fine Arts Foundry to insure that the files would be suitable to work at this much larger scale, while also making some modifications requested by the city of Burbank. After a long stint at Warner Bros Discovery/ DCComics I am looking for ways to give back to this community in a creative capacity. Projects such as the utility boxes show off a vibrant and diverse range of local artists and are been a great way to beautify the city! I hope to be able to brainstorm with the other committee members to see what other possibilities can be implemented. james fletcher

Please tell us about yourself and why you want to serve.
Why are you interested in serving on a board, commission or committee? I'm interested in serving on the Burbank Cultural Arts Commission because Burbank arts have played such an important role in my development as a young artist. Burbank High School offering animation classes and programs to work with Nickelodeon artists convinced me to pursue a career in art and animation. I've been going to the Burbank Arts Fair in Downtown Burbank since I was a kid and I've grown up passing all the animation studios on my way to school and on errands. I want to give back to my community and make sure the next generation get their chance to learn about and pursue the arts.

Describe any qualifications, experience, and education, as well as any technical or professional background you may have relative to the duties of this position.
I've studied in the arts throughout college, I'm a big supporter of art in all its shapes and forms in my community, and I have a deep love for animation, which I feel is an aspect of the Burbank Arts Commission that doesn't usually get a lot of attention.
What are your goals in serving on this Board/Commission/Committee? Advocacy for more events and focus on education through art as well as bringing animation as a medium to the table, since it's often left to the wayside in favor of other forms of art.
