SUBJECT: Adoption of a Resolution Authorizing the Execution of a Sole-Source Multi- Year Renewal Agreement with SirsiDynix for Integrated Library Systems Software
RECOMMENDATION
Adopt A RESOLUTION OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BURBANK AUTHORIZING
THE EXECUTION OF A SOLE-SOURCE MULTI-YEAR RENEWAL AGREEMENT WITH SIRSIDYNIX FOR INTEGRATED LIBRARY SYSTEMS SOFTWARE.
BACKGROUND
The Integrated Library System (ILS) is the core software used through SirsiDynix to manage the Library Services Department (Library) cataloging and circulation operations.
Books and other items for checkout are entered into this system, which allows users to search by title, author, and subject via the Online Public Access Catalog (OPAC). Library patron information is entered into the system, creating a unique patron ID in the form of a library card number that can be used to check out items. The ILS also contains reporting tools, manages due dates, communications with library patrons about their items, and integration of online resources such as e-books. The annual renewal covers all licenses needed by staff to fully use the software. The Library has been utilizing the SirsiDynix platform since 1999 and has been satisfied with the product and services.

• Platinum Services Upgrade: This option provides a comprehensive suite of services that offers more efficient bundling of current services. The upgraded subscription provides unlimited training, consultation, enterprise customization, customer service and support, and data enhancement services. This upgrade is necessary to bring the Library's catalog up to current industry standards. • Unlimited Non-Discovery Connectors: This service consolidates individual connection licenses to an unlimited licensing model which will reduce costs for any future third-party integrations.
• Syndetics Unbound: This feature provides a modern user interface and enhances the customer experience with expanded title information, such as summaries, author information, and recommendations.
• Unicode Migration (one-time implementation fee for FY 24-25): This feature allows records to be displayed in international characters.
• Authority Processing (one-time implementation fee for FY 24-25): This feature will enhance Library cataloging by updating bibliographic records to more current subject headings.
