Mayor and City Council
PREPARED BY: Gabriela Garcia, City Clerk
SUBJECT: Ratification of Letter to San Diego/Imperial Valley Small Business Development Center (IVSBDC) in Support of the Southern Border Region Economic Equity Plan (SB REEP)
Recommendation:

It is recommended that the City Council ratify letter provided to San Diego/Imperial Valley Small Business Development Center (IVSBDC) in support of the Southern Border Region Economic Equity Plan (SB REEP).

Background:

On July 22, 2022, San Diego/Imperial Valley SBDC requested a letter of support for the Southern Border Region Economic Equity Plan (SB REEP). Due to time constraints, on behalf of the City of Calexico, Mayor Moreno provided a letter of support to San Diego/Imperial Valley SBDC for the aforementioned request. The City will be participating in the planning organizational phase of SB REEP. The SB REEP HRTC is proposing an equitable planning process where organizations within the HRTC will elect a steering committee who will provide leadership in the Planning process with input from the HRTC members. HRTC members will also participate in working groups across different sectors to propose holistic and community engagement activities that can fill gaps, identify opportunities for investment across the region, and increase access to high road jobs, training programs, and future opportunities. The HRTC will work with the Convener & Fiscal Agent, Comite Civico del Valle, & Steering Committee to identify subject matter experts to assist in the inclusive AGENDA planning processes. The City stated its agreement with the current ITEM structure of the HRTC of operating in consensus with the core members that will be revised as needed in the initial planning process should the HRTC membership expand after the awarding of the grant. 81211.00100\34421559.1

Re: Southern Border Region Economic Equity Plan (SB REEP) Dear Ms. Mendoza,
The City of Calexico, located in Imperial County, will be participating in the planning organizational phase of the Southern Border Region Economic Equity Plan (SB REEP). The HRTC will work with the Convener & Fiscal Agent, Comite Civico del Valle, & Steering Committee to identify subject matter experts to assist in the inclusive planning processes. We are in agreement with the current structure of the HRTC of operating in consensus with the core members that will be revised as needed in the initial planning process should the HRTC membership expand after the awarding of the grant.

On behalf of City of Calexico, our signature on this Collective Partnership Agreement Letter is a confirmation of our participation as a member of the initial High Road Training Collaborative for the Southern Border Region Economic Equity Plan (SB REEP).
