SUBJECT: Appointments by Mayor and Council Members to the following Commissions, Boards and Committees:
a) Mayor Moreno: Calexico Police Commission, Parks, Recreation, Beautification and Senior Services Commission, Business Improvement District and Calexico Personnel Commission.

Appointments by Mayor and Council Members to the following Commissions, Boards and Committees:

ITEM
Due to vacancies coming about due to death, resignation or commissioners running for office, the positions up for appointment were advertised on the 12 city website and city bulletin boards and at the Camarena Library and Recreation Department.
Discussion & Analysis:
Pursuant to section 2.19.010, each councilmember will appoint one member to each board, commission or committee. No ratification/ approval by the whole Council is required.
The criteria for an appointee to hold office is listed below:
1. Pursuant to Ordinance No. 1159, Section 2.19.030 Eligibility Sections A-E:
A. To be eligible for, and to hold appointment, each appointee shall neither hold public office, or City employment, nor shall he/she be an officer of any local, state or national partisan official group. All members of commissions, boards and committees of the City shall be residents of the city or shall regularly work within the City.
B. Members of the City Council may be appointed by the majority of the City Council to attend commission, board or committee meetings as liaisons to the City Council.
C. Appointee shall be subject to the conflict-of-interest sections of the Political Reform Act of 1974.
D. An individual may serve on only one (1) committee, board or committee at any time.

My name is Consuelo Camacho. I am a second-grade teacher at Blanche Charles Elementary. As a teacher, I value the services that libraries have to offer our students and community. I have benefited from the different programs the Kiki Camarena Library has offered me throughout the years as a student, a mother and a teacher. Now, as a teacher, I would like to give back to our library by offering my time and service to the Kiki Camarena Library. Therefore, 1 am attaching an application and would like to be considered for the position of library board of trustees. I feel 1 can make a significant contribution to this institution. The library and my community are very important to me. I am passionate about instilling the love of reading in children. I firmly believe that the library is a great way to bring communities together and a safe place for our children to grow. I feel all students should equal accessibility to a library. Unfortunately, the school where I work is on the west side of Calexico, making it difficult for some of our students to have access to Kiki Camarena library. For that reason, I wish to be a link between the Kiki Camarena library and the west side of town. In this way, ! hope to help my students get access to all of the amazing services Kiki Camarena Library has to offer. It would be a great honor for me to be part of the library board of trustees and serve, to the best of my ability, not only Kiki Camarena library, but the children of Calexico as well.
