Recommendation:
Adopt Budget Amendment Resolution for Fund No. 255 - American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) for Park Improvements at Alex Rivera and American Legion Baseball Fields.
Background:
On March 16, 2022, the City Council of the City of Calexico adopted the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) - Plan B which allocated $680,000 to Emergency Park Infrastructure.
On September 14, 2022, the City Council of the City of Calexico allocated $272,000 to Adrian C. Cordova Memorial Park, Heber Park and Crummett Park.
Discussion & Analysis:
The Public Works Department - Parks Division has received several complaint from Calexico Little League as well as concerned parents about Alex Rivera and American Legion baseball fields not having enough sport lighting for their practices and games.
Both of these baseball fields are located at the northwest corner of Cesar Chavez Blvd. and 5th Street. The existing sport lights are over 20 years old and it has been really hard to find replacement parts for said lights.
The Public Works Department - Parks Division budget for FY 2022-2023 allocated $3,000.00 for light maintenance; therefore City staff would like to request that the City Council of the City of Calexico allocate $45,000.00 AGENDA from ARPA funds to purchase sport lights for the above-mentioned ITEM baseball fields. Public Works Department - Park Division will be following Ordinance No. 1196 - City of Calexico Purchasing Policy and 10 Procedures for the purchase of materials, equipment and rental services. Any funding not used on the above-mentioned baseball fields will be brought back to City Council for consideration of use at other City parks.

BUDGET AMENDMENT RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL
OF THE CITY OF CALEXICO AUTHORIZING AN AMENDMENT
CALEXICO TO THE FINAL BUDGET FOR FISCAL YEAR 2022-2023
WHEREAS, the Final Budget for Fiscal Year 2022-2023 was adopted by Resolution No. 2022-48 of the City Council on August 10, 2022; and
WHEREAS , the City Council has authorized the amendment of the Final Budget, in accordance with proper governmental accounting and financial reporting practices; and NOW THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of Calexico hereby resolves and authorizes the following action(s)
