Approval of Sponsorship Request from San Diego State University-Imperial Valley (SDSU-IV) Cross-Cultural Center in Support of Hispanic Heritage Month Event.
Background:
On October 10, 2022, Administration received a letter from Ms. Vannessa Falcon and Mr. Carlos Fitch, from SDSU IV Cross-Cultural Center, requesting an event sponsorship donation of three hundred, seventy-five dollars ($375.00) to support the event "En el Patio de Atrás" in the SDSU-IV Rodney Auditorium on Friday, October 28, 2022, at 6:00 p.m.
Discussion & Analysis:
The play, "En el Patio de Atrás" from Mexicali's Colectivo "Voces en Órbita", ", provides binational partnerships to a community of artists across the Mexicali-Calexico border region. It amplifies the stories of success represented in postsecondary education. This event is parallel to the celebrations of heritage months in the United States.
Council Member Ureña recommends a donation of three hundred, seventy-five dollars ($375.00) from his discretionary fund to sponsor the aforementioned event.

We write this letter on behalf of the Empoderación en la Educación Project at the Cross- Cultural Center at San Diego State University - Imperial Valley to request the sponsorship of $375.0 to support the event "El Patio de Atrás" in the SDSU-IV Rodney Auditorium on Friday. October 28 at 6:00 p.m. The play, "El Patio de Atrás" from Mexicali's colectivo "Voces en Orbita, provides binational partnerships to a community of artists across the Mexicali-Calexico border region.
The presentation of the play "En el Patio de Atrás" amplifies the stories of success represented in postsecondary education. This event is parallel to the celebrations of heritage months in the United States, as we strive to highlight diversity, equity and diversity in our institution.
We hope the council approves this sponsorship, as the binational presence of this play and artists is of great importance to continue creating opportunities of learning about our diverse communities in our borderlands region through inclusive art expressions. It will also be an honor to count with your presence to see "El Patio de Atrás".
