Recommendation:
Adopt the revised salary schedule for the Chief of Police position.
Background:
Administration was advised by the contracted recruitment firm that the current salary schedule for the Police Chief was inadequate for a City of our size to continue with the search for a permanent Police Chief. City Council provided direction to staff to increase the salary schedule for the Police Chief position.
Discussion & Analysis:
Through the Budget Amendment Resolution presented to and approved by City Council with the 1st quarter budget report on November 17, 2022, additional funding was allocated for an increase to the Police Chief salary. It is anticipated that with a significant salary increase for the Police Chief position, the City will be able to attract as many qualified and diverse candidates as possible and Administration can move the recruitment efforts forward successfully.
Fiscal Impact:
$17,324.30 for FY 2022/23.
