Recommendation:
Approve Resolution No. 2022-74 - A Resolution of the City Council of the City of Calexico California, Reciting the Fact of the General Municipal Election held on Tuesday, November 8, 2022 Declaring the Result and such other Matters as Provided by Law.
Background:
On June 27, 2022, City Council approved Resolution No. 2022-40, Requesting the Board of Supervisors of the County of Imperial to conduct a General Municipal Election of the City of Calexico for:
Two Council Member Seats (Four Year Term)
and render specified services to the City relating to the conduct of the election and to consolidate such election with and State or Local Election to be held on Tuesday, November 8, 2022. Pursuant to the resolution, the Registrar of Voters of the County of Imperial will canvass the returns to the election and certify the election results to the City Council of the City of Calexico.
Discussion and Analysis:
This item is placed before the City Council to declare the election results of the November 8, 2022 General Municipal Election. The names of the candidates who ran for City Council office are as follows: AGENDA

Candidates Raul Ureña and Gilberto Manzanarez obtained the highest number of votes.
The Imperial County Registrar of Voters certified the results of said election on December 1, 2022. The Council is required to adopt a resolution reciting the fact of the election and declaring the results and such other matters as provided by law.

RESOLUTION NO. 2022-74
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CALEXICO CALIFORNIA,
RECITING THE FACT OF THE GENERAL MUNICIPAL ELECTION HELD ON TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 8, 2022 DECLARING THE RESULT AND SUCH OTHER MATTERS AS PROVIDED BY LAW.
WHEREAS, a General Municipal Election was held and conducted in the City of Calexico, California on Tuesday, November 8, 2022 as required by law; and WHEREAS, notice of the election was given in time, form and manner as provided by law; that voting precincts were properly established; that election officers were appointed and that in all respects the election was held and conducted and the votes were cast, received and canvassed and returns made and declared in time, form and manner as required by the provisions of the Elections Code of the State of California for the holding of elections in general law cities; and WHEREAS, pursuant to Resolution 2022-39, adopted on the 27' day of June, 2022, requesting the Board of Supervisors of the County of Imperial to-render specified services to the City relating to the conduct of a General Municipal Election and to consolidate such election with any State or Local Election to be held on Tuesday, November 8, 2022.
WHEREAS, the County Election Department canvassed the returns of the elections and has certified the results to this City Council, the results are received, attached and made a part hereof as Exhibits 1 and 2; and
WHEREAS, that pursuant to the provisions of Section 10403 of the Elections Code of the State of California, this City Council requested the Board of Supervisors of the County to permit the County Election Department to conduct the election of the City of Calexico according to State law, on Tuesday, November 8, 2022, to submit the following to the voters:
TWO SEATS ON THE CITY COUNCIL (4 YEAR TERM)
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CALEXICO, CALIFORNIA, DOES RESOLVE, DECLARE, DETERMINE AND ORDER AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. Number of Ballots. The whole of ballots cast in the precincts, the whole number of votes by mail voter ballots cast in the City, the whole number of provisional ballots cast in the City, and the total number of ballots cast in the City is set forth in the Certificate of Election from the Imperial County Elections Official, which is attached hereto as Exhibit 1 and made a part hereof.
SECTION 2. Election of Two Council Members.
The names of the persons voted for at the election for member of the City Council are as follows:

2. Gilberto Manzanarez
3. Blanca Morales
4. Morris Reisin
5. Bill Hodge
6. Rosie Arreola-Fernandez
7. Gerardo "Jerry" Espinoza

SECTION 3. The number of votes given at each precinct and the number of votes given in the City to each of the above named persons for the respective offices for which the persons were candidates are listed in Exhibit 1 attached.
SECTION 4. The City Council does declare and determine that the following persons were each elected as Member of the City of Calexico City Council fir the full term of four years:

SECTION 5. That the City Clerk shall certify to the passage and adoption of this resolution and enter it into the book of original resolutions.
