Recommendation:
Approval of travel to Taipe, Republic of Taiwan by Mayor Moreno and City Manager Colio Warren per invitation by Mr. Vincent Chou, Greenrock Energy, Ltd., Yi Jing Solar Company.
Background:
On February 1, 2023 Mayor Moreno and City Manager Colio Warren received a formal invitation from Mr. Vincent Chou, Greenrock Energy, Ltd., Yi Jing Solar Company, to visit Taipe, Republic of Taiwan to promote and highlight economic development opportunities to investors and companies with interests in establishing operations in Calexico.
Discussion & Analysis:
Mayor Moreno has requested that an emergency item be placed on the City Council agenda for February 1, 2023 upon receipt of the tormal invitation received on this date to visit laipe, Republic of Taiwan. The invitation has been made for Travel to Taipe from February 20, 2023 to February 26, 2023.
The visit would include a visit the governments of Chiayi County and Pingtung County to learn about their current renewable energy policies and AGENDA green energy developments and tour one of their renewable energy ITEM installations such as ground-mounted PV systems, and aquaculture combined with PV systems. They also seek to discuss how to seek investment opportunities, including California's new housing building, solar power plant structure, and solar cell plant and module plant construction.
Fiscal Impact:
GreenRock Energy Company will be responsible for all expenses, including air fare, transportation, meals, and hotel accommodations.
