Buenas tardes.

Subject: Fw: Item on agenda in regards to guns
Honorable council members and mayor, I am writing in support of agenda item #5 adoption of Ordinance No. 1228. The Calexico Police Department is a well-trained and highly qualified group of law enforcement officers who must be well-equipped to protect the citizens of this great community. Having the ability to outfit our police force with the military equipment needed to effectively protect and serve should be one of the highest priorities for the City's policymakers. Chief Serrano has provided the policy that sets a very descriptive purpose and scope and is in line with industry best practices and state and federal statutes. Having our city police officers properly trained and equipped ensures our community will be much safer should a critical incident occur as we've seen multiple times in communities both in California and other states.
I urge this council to consider this plea for a more capable police force and a safer community for us, the senior citizens, the youngster, the business community .
Do not send out our police officers to protect us with "bibi" guns, while those who have invaded our town, have rifles, super duper guns that they have purchased illegally. Maybe our council people should ride along with our officers, once a week, in the middle of the early morning or daytime to better understand what they go through. I would hate to see the families of our officers, to love their loved ones for lack of proper equipment.
Javier, it surprises me that you with law enforcement background, should not want our officers to be safe in protecting us.
Respectfully,

Subject: Rotation of Council Item
Dear Mayor & Council members
I am writing to you in regards to the rotation of Mayorship position.
Why do you not respect what previous council have done in giving council members the privilege of being mayor and in this case, Camilo Garcia. He had the votes of the citizens of Calexico to represent us and he deserves YOUR respect to give him the opportunity to represent us in a very professional way in City Business.. He comprehends the English & Spanish language and he know what our city needs as far as bringing in new business. How is this? He works where he is involved with the unemployed & the needs of our community.
I appreciate the younger generation, being involved in city politics, but please learn to respect the citizens wishes. And I have to appreciate the two youngster, in the council that they express them selves in both English & Spanish. Believe it or not, there are people your age that are Mexican but understang English language better.
Mayor Moreno, you have had the opportunity to be Mayor twice, please vote to give your Fellow councilman, Camilo Garcia the chance to represent us. Unless you owe someone a favor & committed to them.
One more concern that I would like to mention. I can't due to my health be there in person, go here it goes.
Please be respectful to our city staff. I have observed you over the internet, when they give you a report, they are scolded & belittled. There is a place & time to correct them if they are at fault. Show them some respect .
Ms Colio, I do not know you personally, but know that you are highly respected by my goddaughter, Brawley former city manager, and a former Calexico fire chief. Please hang in there, I feel you can do a lot for our City.

Subject: Pro Camilo G Opinion
I am submitting this email because I am in favor of Council Member Camilo Garcia's opinion on disarming local police officers. I strongly disagree on it because as many of us know we are neighbors with a country in which crime and violence is one of the primary problems. Many of the people who live in Mexicali also reside in Calexico. We are in times in which drugs, cartels and other things have influenced our way of living and people have normalized it. Carrying a gun or other things to protect yourself and your town is the least we as a town can do and allow police officers to do. I believe it's completely absurd what other. council members are proposing, as many know we have been marked not only because of our population, but our schools conditions our district and other things has one of the worst cities in the Valley. This will only make it worst, and no it isn't what other will says, but the least thing we can do, YOU can do for our town is ensuring our safeness by having our Police Officers well equipped.
