WHAT IS A HOUSING AUTHORITY?
The primary task of the Housing Authority
is to provide safe sanitary and affordable
rental housing for low-income families,
elderly and disabled persons.

The Authority provides housing that we
have developed, own and/or manage for
eligible applicants and housing through
rent subsidies on behalf of eligible
applicants who lease privately owned
units (Section 8).

HOUSING AUTHORITY OF THE CITY OF CALEXICO Page 02/14

HISTORY
The Housing Authority of the City of Calexico was
established on July 1, 1987. Formally the HACC was a
part of the Imperial Valley Housing Authority and chose to become it's own entity.

The HACC is an independent agency governed by the
U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development
(HUD). While the HACC's name might lead one to believe
that it is a part of the municipal government, it is not. It's name simply refers to the geographic area it oversees.
