Recommendation:
Authorize City Manager to Sign Deductive Change Order No. 1 with Pyramid Construction and Aggregates, Inc. in the amount of $173,985. 15 for Alley Improvement Project - Phase I.
Background:
The Imperial County Air Pollution Control District (ICAPCD) received a federal grant through the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) 2021 Targeted Airshed Grant Program to assist the City of Calexico to pave approximately 3.46 miles of unpaved alleyways in Calexico in an attempt to mitigate PM10 and PM2.5.
On December 1, 2021 and March 16, 2022, the City Council of the City of Calexico authorized the City Manager to enter into a Funding Agreement with ICAPCD for the Alleyway Paving Project.
On October 5, 2022, the City Council of the City of Calexico approved the bid plans and specifications for Alley Improvement Project - Phase | and authorized Public Works Department to send the project out to bid. The work shall include, grading base and subgrade preparation for installation of class Il base, remove and replace concrete curb and gutter, driveways, surveying work, utility adjustments and traffic control.

On December 21, 2022, the City Council of the City of Calexico award the bid proposal from Pyramid Construction and Aggregates, Inc. in the amount of $820,565.00 and authorized the City Manager to sign Construction Agreement for Alley Improvement Project - Phase I.
Discussion & Analysis:
On February 13, 2023, Pyramid Construction & Aggregates, Inc. began construction of Alley Improvement Project - Phase I. Due to construction quantities being under for said project, Public Works staff is recommending that the City Council approve Pyramid Construction & Aggregates, Inc. deductive Changer Order No. 1 (Attachment No. 1).
Fiscal Impact:
The total contract for this project approved by the City Council on December 21, 2022 was $820,565.00. With the deductive change order in the amount of $173,985.15, the total final cost for Alley Improvements Project - Phase I is $ 646,579.85.
