It is recommended that the City Council of the City of Calexico adopt the attached Budget Amendment Resolution for reallocation of resources to Police Department and Recreation Department.
Background:
On June 22, 2023, the City Council adopted City of Calexico FY 2023-24 Budget Discussion & Analysis:
Currently the City of Calexico provides city council health benefits with a total cost for each Council Member of $13,680.00. The health benefits are identical to those of City terminated, and those funds be transferred to the Police Department for salaries and Recreation Department for Recreational programs, respectively.
Fiscal Impact:
No fiscal impact to current General Fund, resources will be allocated within General Fund Departments: City Council Department to Police Department and Recreation Department.

BUDGET AMENDMENT RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL
OF THE CITY OF CALEXICO AUTHORIZING AN AMENDMENT
CALEXICO TO THE FINAL BUDGET FOR FISCAL YEAR 2023-24
WHEREAS, the Final Budget for Fiscal Year 2023-24 was adopted by Resolution No. 2023-39 of the City Council on June 22, 2023; and
WHEREAS , the City Council has authorized the amendment of the Final Budget, in accordance with proper governmental accounting and financial reporting practices; and WHEREAS, the City budgeted medical insurance benefits for Mayor Raul and Council Member Gilberto Manzanarez in the amount of $27,360.00
WHEREAS, Mayor Raul Ureña and Council Member Gilberto Manzanarez recommend funds be transferred to Police Department for Salaries and Benefits and Recreation Department for Recreation actvities NOW THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of Calexico hereby resolves and authorizes the following action(s) AMENDMENTS TO ADOPTED BUDGET:

Hello Mrs. Colio,
I am interested in canceling my insurance through the City of Calexico and amending the budget to transfer these funds (Please specify how much is allotted for insurance per year) and move that into the Recreation Department budget.
Please confirm to me how much is spent on insurance in my case per year as well as if this is something that can be done internally or something to be done through council actions.
