Recommendation (Item Requested by Council Member Manzanarez):
Adopt Budget Amendment Resolution for Fund No. 255 - American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) in the Amount of $500,000.00 for Park Improvements at Nosotros Park and Baseball Field.
Background:
On March 16, 2022, the City Council of the City of Calexico adopted the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) - Plan B which allocated $680,000 to Emergency Park Infrastructure.
On September 14, 2022, the City Council of the City of Calexico allocated $272,000 to Adrian C. Cordova Memorial Park, Heber Park and Crummett Park.
On October 5, 2022, the City Council of the City of Calexico allocated $45,000 to Alex Rivera and American Legion Baseball Fields to purchase sport lighting.
On June 22, 2023, the City Council of the City of Calexico allocated $175,000 to Adrain C.
Cordova for design phase of said project.
Discussion and Analysis:
The City Council has received several complaints from the community and sport leagues about the deterioration and lack of infrastructure at Nosotos Park and Baseball Field. Council Member Manzanarez is requesting that the City Council of the City of Calexico allocate $500,000.00 from Fund No. 255-91-908 - Downtown Rehabilitation to Nosotros Park and Baseball Field. The following improvements are being proposed but not limited to:
1. Repair and Replace Lighting
2. Repair Irrigation System
3. Repair Fencing
4. Removal of Graffiti
5. Rehabilitation of Restrooms
6. Purchase of amenities (trash cans, benches, etc.)
7. Other

Any funding not used on the above-mentioned park and softball field will be brought back to City Council for consideration of use at other City parks.

OF THE CITY OF CALEXICO AUTHORIZING AN AMENDMENT
TO THE FINAL BUDGET FOR FISCAL YEAR 2023-2024
WHEREAS, the Final Budget for Fiscal Year 2023-2024 was adopted by Resolution No. 2023 - 39 of the City Council on June 22, 2023; and
WHEREAS , the City Council has authorized the amendment of the Final Budget, in accordance with proper governmental accounting and financial reporting practices; and NOW THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of Calexico hereby resolves and authorizes the following action(s)
