Dear City Council Members & City Clerk:
I would like to be a member of the Community Services Commission to work on improving the life of the citizens of Calexico.
I have lived in Calexico all my life. I am a graduate of Calexico High School and graduated from California State Polytechnic University, Pomona. I am a home owner have lived and worked in the Calexico community for over 30 years.
As a child, I was privileged to have participated in Calexico Recreational programs. My children also participated in many recreational programs. I feel that parks and recreation are essential to our community. It is imperative for the elderly to have a place to gather, to have interactions with others, exercise classes and access to health information. When the elderly have these resources, they live a much more enriched and fulfilling life.
It is crucial for children to have access to clean and safe parks for their social and physical development. My children benefited from many of the recreational programs such as the arts and sports during the school year and summer vacation. As a working mother, it was convenient and accessible to take my children to the recreational programs where they were taught sports and the arts. These classes were offered at an affordable fee and my children enjoyed them immensely.
My desire is to support these services for the community so that the citizens of Calexico can live a richer quality of life.
Best Regards,
Chituafge
