Recommendation:
Authorize City Manager to Purchase One (1) 801H Simplex and Two (2) 800 Simplex Direct Drive Plunger Pumps for the Wastewater Treatment Plant in the Amount of $109,000.00 from Carter Pump.
Background:
Public Works Department staff is currently requesting City Council authorization to purchase one (1) 801H Simplex and two (2) 800 Simplex Direct Drive Plunger Pumps for Primary Clarifier at Wastewater Treatment Plant from Carter Pump. These new pumps will replace existing pumps that were installed back in 1991 and 1996 and are in major need of replacement.
Discussion and Analysis:
The reason Public Works staff is recommending that the City purchase these pumps directly from Carter Pump is that this equipment is the only product acceptable to directly connect to the existing piping at the Wastewater Treatment Plant without any modifications. Having these pumps connected directly to existing equipment saves the City time and most importantly money. In addition, the City would benefit from obtaining a huge discount if purchased directly from the manufacturer.
Fiscal Impact:
Capital Improvement Program Budgeted Item for FY 2023-2024 Fund No. 547-90-993-56014-000 $190,000.00
Total $190,000.00
