BACKGROUND:
The City of Calexico owns two parcels of land located at the southwest corner of 3rd Street and Heber Avenue. The first parcel is 20,770.02 square feet (0.47 acres) while the second parcel is 12,117.93 square feet (0.27 acres). The purpose of this item is to authorize the City Manager to proceed with the acquisition of a title report and appraisal in the approximate amount of $10,000 in order to ascertain the market value of the subject properties prior to exploring the possibility of a sale.
RECOMMENDATION:
Authorize City Manager to request a title report and appraisal in the approximate amount of $10,000 for two city-owned properties located at the southwest corner of 3rd Street and Heber Avenue (APN 058-484-002, and 058-484-003).
DISCUSSION AND ANALYSIS:
Surplus Land Act. The Surplus Land Act (SLA) was recently amended via Senate Bill (SB) 747 which changed the definition of exempt surplus land to include properties less than one-half acre in area (or 21,780 square feet) and are not contiguous land owned by a state or local agency that City of Calexico City Council Meeting
