Recommendation:
It is recommended that the City Council adopt Resolution No. _ _ a Resolution of the City Council of the City of Calexico, California, Establishing a Regular Meeting Date for May 8, 2024.
Background/Discussion:
Calexico City Council meetings are generally held on the first and third Wednesday of each month at 5:30 p.m. However, the upcoming May 1, 2024, regular meeting of the City Council has been cancelled due to Councilmembers' anticipated attendance at the Southern California Association of Governments (SCAG) annual conference.
Under Section 2.04.040 of the Calexico Municipal Code, the City Council may make changes to its regular meeting schedule by resolution, and "regular meetings may be rescheduled or cancelled in special circumstances or as necessary by a majority vote of the city council." Staff recommends that the City Council schedule a regular meeting for May 8, 2024 so that the Council may consider final adoption of the Ordnance Amending Chapter 13.01 of the Municipal Code Relating to Water Service, which was first read and introduced at the April 17, 2024 Council meeting. Staff recommends adoption of the Ordinance as soon as reasonably possible to ensure the Calexico Municipal Code complies with State requirements relating to water shut-offs and water customer protections.

A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
CALEXICO, CALIFORNIA, ESTABLISHINGA REGULAR
MEETING DATE FOR MAY 8, 2024
WHEREAS, Section 2.04.040 of the Calexico Municipal Code provides that the City Council will hold its regular meetings on the first and third Wednesday of each month "unless otherwise specified by resolution," and further provides that "Regular meetings may be rescheduled or cancelled in special circumstances or as necessary by a majority vote of the city council; and
WHEREAS, the May 1, 2024 regular meeting of the City Council has been cancelled; and WHEREAS, the City Council desires to set a set a regular meeting of the City Council for May 8, 2024, at City Council Chambers, 608 Heber Avenue, Calexico, California.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Calexico as follows:
SECTION 1. Incorporation of Recitals. The Recitals set forth above are true and correct and are incorporated into this Resolution by this reference.
SECTION 2. Regular Meeting. The City Council hereby establishes a regular meeting date, time and location for May 8, 2024, at 6:30 p.m. to take place in City Council Chambers, 608 Heber Avenue, Calexico, California.
SECTION 3. Severability. The City Council declares that, should any provision, section, paragraph, sentence, or word of this Resolution be rendered or declared invalid by any final court action in a court of competent jurisdiction or by reason of any preemptive legislation, the remaining provisions, sections, paragraphs, sentences, or words of this Resolution shall remain in full force and effect.
SECTION 4. Effect of Resolution. This Resolution shall not affect the general regular meeting schedule of the City Council, as established pursuant to Section 2.04.040 of the Calexico Municipal Code and/or other resolutions of the City Council.
SECTION 6. Effective Date. This Resolution shall take effect immediately upon its adoption.
