Recommendation:
Adopt Budget Amendment Resolution for Fund No. 299 - Energy Efficiency and Conservation Block Grant (EECBG) Program in the amount of $76,300.00 to Purchase Energy Efficiency Equipment for Various City Facilities.
Background:
The Energy Efficiency and Conservation Block Grant (EECBG) Program is a $550 million grant program funded through the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law. It is designed to assist states, local governments, and Tribes in implementing strategies to reduce energy use, to reduce fossil fuel emissions, and to improve energy efficiency.
Discussion and Analysis:
The City of Calexico was allocated $76,300.00 from the Energy Efficiency and Conservation Block Grant (EECBG) Program Equipment Rebate Voucher for the purchase of the following equipment:
Description Amount
1. City Hall - City Manager's Office - AC Unit $15,000.00
2. City Hall - LED Lighting $36,300.00
3. Police Department - AC Unit $15,000.00
4. Public Works Department - Employee Lounge - AC Unit $10,000.00 It is recommended that the City Council of the City of Calexico adopt the attached Budget Amendment Resolution to proceed with the purchase of the above-mentioned equipment. City staff will be following EECBG Program Equipment Rebate Voucher guidelines and Ordinance No. 1196 - City of Calexico Purchasing Policy and Procedures for the purchase of materials, equipment, and rental services.
