SUBJECT: Create an Ad Hoc Committee for the City of Calexico International Airport and Appoint Two Councilmembers to the Committee.

Recommendation:
A discussion among the City Councilmembers on whether to create an Ad Hoc committee for the City of Calexico International Airport and appoint two Councilmembers to the Committee to work with the Director of Public Works, the Airport Manager, and a member of the public residing within the City, to meet on a monthly basis to discuss a plan to address the Airport's deficit that will report to the City Council.
Background:
The Calexico International Airport has been in a deficit for the past three (3) years and has been subsidized by the General Fund. No proposals have been provided by staff over these years to identify any potential income to make the Airport self-sustainable. The General Fund cannot continue to subsidize this expenditure; therefore an Ad Hoc committee could be an option to identify potential revenue sources to keep the Airport open or make the recommendation to the City Council to seize operations.
