RECOMMENDATION
Approve Resolution No. 2025-_ of the City Council of the City of Calexico Approving the Hosting of the National Night Out Event on November 13, 2025, at Rockwood Plaza.
BACKGROUND
National Night Out is an annual community-building campaign that promotes police-community partnerships and neighborhood camaraderie to make communities safer and more caring places to live.
This event is celebrated nationwide and provides an opportunity for residents, businesses, and city staff to come together in a positive environment.
The event will be organized and hosted by the Calexico Police, Traffic and Code Enforcement Commission.
DISCUSSION AND ANALYSIS
The proposed event will include:
• Informational booths from local law enforcement, fire, and community organizations. • Public safety demonstrations.
• Activities for children and families.
• Opportunities for residents to engage directly with City officials and first responders.
Hosting the event at Rockwood Plaza, in front of the Police Department, provides a central and accessible location for the public. This event will strengthen community relationships, encourage civic engagement, and promote safety awareness across the City.
FISCAL IMPACT
Minimal fiscal impact is anticipated. Event costs will be supported by donations and in-kind contributions. No additional allocation from the General Fund is requested

RESOLUTION NO. 2025-_
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CALEXICO
APPROVING THE HOSTING OF THE NATIONAL NIGHT OUT EVENT ON NOVEMBER 13, 2025, AT ROCKWOOD PLAZA.
WHEREAS, National Night Out is a nationwide community-building campaign that promotes police-community partnerships and neighborhood camaraderie to make communities safer; and WHEREAS, the City of Calexico is committed to fostering strong relationships between law enforcement, city staff, residents, and local businesses; and WHEREAS, the Calexico Police Department, in collaboration with the Traffic and Code Enforcement Commission, has proposed hosting the National Night Out event on Thursday, November 13, 2025, from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at Rockwood Plaza, in front of the Police Department; and
WHEREAS, the event will provide residents with the opportunity to engage with first responders, learn about public safety resources, and participate in community activities that strengthen civic pride and trust; and
WHEREAS, the City Council recognizes the value of this event in promoting community safety, awareness, and engagement, and wishes to support its successful implementation.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Calexico that:
1. The City Council hereby approves the hosting of the National Night Out event on November 13, 2025, at Rockwood Plaza.
2. The Calexico Police Department, in partnership with the Traffic and Code Enforcement Commission, is authorized to plan, organize, and conduct the event.
3. City staff are directed to provide reasonable support to ensure the event's success, including logistical assistance as needed
Effective Date: This resolution shall take effect immediately upon adoption.
