Recommendation:
Approve a 3% Cost of Living (COLA) increase to Veronica Alvarado's current contract rate, effective retroactively to July 1, 2024, and adopt the revised General Salary Schedule reflecting the adjustment to Range G-51 CC.
Background:
Ms. Veronica Alvarado has been contracted with the City of Calexico since October 23, 2023, providing satisfactorily valuable and specialized administrative support services to the City Council in her capacity as City Clerk. Her contract does not include an automatic COLA adjustment; however, it states:
"The employee will also be eligible for annual Cost of Living Adjustment ("COLA") and "step" merit increase to salary based on annual performance review at the discretion of the City Manager; as provided to all other employees."
Discussion and Analysis:
In alignment with COLA increases granted to other employee groups and to promote fair and consistent compensation practices across the organization, a 3% COLA increase is recommended for Ms.
Alvarado. This adjustment is proposed to take effect retroactively as of July 1, 2024.
Fiscal Impact:
The estimated total cost of this COLA adjustment is $8,190.54.
