Recommendation:
Approve the 2026 - 2028 CalWORKs PREP Program Renewal Agreement with the County of Imperial and Authorize the City Manager to sign Agreement.
Background:
The CalWORKs PREP (Pre-Employment Preparation) Program, in partnership with the IVROP (Imperial Valley Regional Occupational Program), collaborates with nonprofit agencies such as the City of Calexico to provide work opportunities to eligible participants.
Under the CalWORKs PREP Program, the trainee's salary is fully funded. The City's responsibility is limited to providing supervision, work assignments, training, and performance evaluations. Qualified participants receive training in areas including general office work, customer service, assisting with recreation activities, adult literacy, library services, and traffic control, among others. Trainees must be always supervised by a full-time City employee, and work assignments are provided as additional activities arise throughout the year.
Discussion & Analysis:
The City of Calexico has previously participated in and benefited from programs like CalWORKs PREP.
These partnerships provide valuable training opportunities, helping individuals gain skills that support their transition to employment in both the public and private sectors. The proposed Renewal Agreement covers a two-year period, ending January 19, 2028.

RENEWAL TERMS
In consideration of their mutual covenants, the County and the Worksite agree to the following renewal terms:
Extension of the Term of the Agreement:
The Parties hereby extend the term of the Agreement by mutual agreement for two additional years from _ _01/19/2026 through _01/19/2028_ All Other Terms and Conditions Remain in Full Force and Effect.
All other terms and conditions of the Agreement are and will remain in full force and effect.
There are no other modifications, express or implied except as herein provided.
