SUBJECT: Approve Cancellation of Regularly Scheduled City Council Meeting for September 16, 2026 and schedule a Special Meeting of the City Council for September 23, 2026.

Recommendation:
Recommend the City Council to Approve Cancellation of Regularly Scheduled City Council Meeting for September 16, 2026 and schedule a Special Meeting of the City Council for September 23, 2026.
Background:
The San Diego Football Club has provided a generous donation of soccer game tickets for the youth of Calexico to attend the match against Club Tijuana Xolos on September 16, 2026, at Snapdragon Stadium in San Diego. The match time conflicts with the hour of the City Council Meeting.
Discussion and Analysis:
The City Council is encouraged to attend the soccer match and help chaperone the youth, promote family engagement, as well as inspire our youth through the excitement of professional sports. Forthis reason, it is recommended to approve the cancellation of the regularly scheduled City Council Meeting for September 16, 2026, and direct staff to hold a Special Meeting of the City Council on September 23, 2026.
