Recommendation:
It is recommended that the City Council approve a Revised Salary Schedule for Directors and Contract Employees to Include the City Manager Position which was previously approved on a separate City Manager Salary Schedule on February 19, 2025
Background:
On February 19, 2025, the City Council approved an increase in the salary range for the position of City Manager, prior to a recruitment for that position, and to comply with CaPERS requirements approved a salary schedule listing the salary range for the position of the City Manager.
The City maintains a separate salary schedule for Directors and Contract Employees that identifies the applicable compensation for positions serving under individual employment contracts. The City has now been informed that CaPERS requires that salary schedules have more than one position on a salary schedule, and are approved for a "group or class." Therefore, the proposed revision adds the City Manager position to the Directors and Contract Employees Salary Schedule effective February 19, 2025. The proposed revision incorporates the salary range for the City Manager position as approved on February 19, 2025, and does not increase or otherwise modify the City Manager's compensation as previously approved by the City Council. The purpose of the revision is solely to comply with the technical requirements of a salary schedule as determined by CaPERS.
The proposed Directors and Contract Employees Salary Schedule is attached for the City Council's review and consideration.
