ITEM PULLED FOR DISCUSSION

DISCUSSION
P. Ventura County Transportation Commission – Transportation Integration and Efficiency Study Presentation
Claire Grasty, Transit Director, Ventura County Transportation Commission (VCTC) provided information on the Transit Integration and Efficiency Study (TIES) and reviewed benefits and possible impacts of the three identified alternatives to integrate public transit.

Alternative 1 – Subregional consolidation of service with increased interagency coordination;
Alternative 2 – Creation of a countywide demand -response agency and two subregional consolidated fixed route agencies;
Alternative 3 – All public transit agencies integrated into Gold Coast Transit Agency.

The Council indicated their support for improving transit coordination, but expressed concerns and a lack of support for Alternatives 2 and 3, which would result in the loss of road maintenance funds, impact local control o f the city’s transit services , and proposed a board structure that would lessen the city’s representation.

Council supported the City Manager sending a letter to VCTC indicatin g their position.
