Dear Mayor Santangelo and Honorable Members of the City Council:
The Ventura County Coalition of Labor, Agriculture, and Business (VC CoLAB) is a non-profit advocacy organization representing over 690 members throughout Ventura County and Southern California. Our diverse membership includes agriculture, commercial business, manufacturing, construction, real estate, finance, transportation, energy, and property owners who support our efforts to advocate for reasonable regulatory processes and a robust local economy.
The City has expressed concern regarding the potential for impacts, including risks associated with the most exceptionally rare and unlikely flooding events, applying flood risk standards far in excess of current industry standards. VC CoLAB is concerned that the City is setting a new – and unachievable – standard that will prevent the City from benefiting from much needed new housing and economic development projects in the future. However, the only way to fully evaluate and assess the City’s expressed concerns and develop the appropriate mitigation to address any perceived risks is to allow the project to proceed to the process that already exists in the City’s planning and permitting application process and CEQA.
We urge you to allow the NUWI project to move forward to progress through the City’s planning and permitting process for a development project. This will allow for further analysis of any reasonable risks and impacts and identify the proper mitigation to address the City’s concerns.

Comments My Name is Angelique Sieverson, I am a Senior Living Advisor. Everyday I receive phone calls from older adults.
They are asking questions about the type of housing available in Ventura County for older adults. The house they live in is too big, requires extensive energy and finances to maintain .
Then are not ready for Assisted Living. Camarillo Springs would offer a superb middle housing option.
I have listened to the opposing side and couldn't help but think, if it is a inappropriate place to build, why do they live there?
