Subject: Airport Layout Plan Update – Verbal Presentation from Director of Airports Keith Freitas
BACKGROUND
On July 13, 2022, the County of Ventura Department of Airports Director, Keith Freitas, presented to the Camarillo City Council regarding the proposed Airport Layout Plan (ALP). The ALP is a plan for the maintenance and rehabilitation of existing facilities at the airport including a five-to-seven-year capital improvement plan to comply with the Federal Aviation Administration’s requirements.
The presentation explained the ALP process and expressed a strong commitment to providing ample opportunities for community input throughout the process. During that presentation, Director Freitas provided assurance that Department of Airports is not proposing any changes to the 1976 Agreement, a joint powers agreement between the Camarillo City Council and Ventura County Board of Supervisors regarding airport operations.
DISCUSSION
Director Freitas will provide a community update regarding the Airport Layout Plan to the City Council, to confirm no changes are proposed to the 1976 Agreement, and to discuss next steps in the Airport Layout Plan process including the anticipated timing of the next community workshop on the ALP.
FISCAL IMPACT
There is no budget impact as a result of this action.
RECOMMENDATION
Receive and file the Airport Layout Plan (ALP) update from the County of Ventura Department of Airports.
