Subject: Resolution Designating Camarillo Public Library Community Room as Temporary Location for All Public City and Board Meetings
BACKGROUND
The City Council recently approved a Capital Improvement Project for the Remodel of the Council Chambers to upgrade technology, increase ADA accessibility, and make security enhancements (Project). Due to the construction, a temporary meeting location is necessary to ensure no break in City business and to secure a facility able to accommodate all City and Board public meetings.
Camarillo Municipal Code Chapter 2.08 pertains to the time and place of City Meetings and designates the meeting place of the City Council to be 601 Carmen Drive, Camarillo, California, or such other place as the Council may designate by resolution. Due to the Project, a resolution adopted by the City Council is needed to designate a new temporary meeting location for the duration of the remodel project.
DISCUSSION
During the period of construction of the Project, regularly scheduled public City Council and Board meetings will be temporarily relocated to the Camarillo Public Library following the closure of the Council Chambers. The closure is anticipated to begin February 1, 2024, and is expected to be completed by the end of the year.
All meetings will continue to be open to the public, and the temporary location at the Library Community Room will allow for full public access, provide for ADA accessibility, and will include opportunities for public comment as provided by law. Regular meetings will continue to be streamed live on the City’s YouTube Channel for full community access and will be broadcast on the City’s Government Channels following the meetings.

notice to the community of the relocated meetings. Signs will be posted on the Camarillo Council Chambers alerting the public of the closure and the alternate meeting location and will include a QR code to directly access the public meetings webpage for additional information.
The adopted resolution will only be in effect until the City Manager determines the project is complete, at which time, all City and Board meetings will resume in the newly remodeled Camarillo Council Chamber.
FISCAL IMPACT
There is no budget impact as a result of this action.
RECOMMENDATION
Adopt a Resolution designating the Camarillo Public Library Community Room as a temporary location for all public City and Board meetings.
