AGENDA REPORT
Date: April 10, 2024
To: Honorable Mayor and City Councilmembers
From: Greg Ramirez, City Manager
Submitted by: Mark Uribe, Finance Director
Subject: City Council Policy 1.12, Community Grant Funding
BACKGROUND
City Council Policy 1.12 was originally adopted in November 1996, and last amended on November 9, 2022, which included combining Policy 1.15, Guidelines for City Support of Community Events into Policy 1.12. The purpose of the policy is to establish guidelines for the City’s annual Community Service Grants and Community Event Grants Funding.
DISCUSSION
Staff has reviewed Policy 1.12, Community Grant Funding, and is recommending revisions which include removing the funding calculation that limited the amount of available funding, and relaxing the eligibility requirements which will allow funding opportunities for more organizations. These changes align with the City’s FY 2024/25 Council Objective to explore potential changes to the process and sources of funding, with the objective of increasing the level of City financial support for nonprofit organizations serving the community.
On February 26, 2024, the Finance Committee discussed the revised draft policy and requested that staff make a few additional changes. The Committee reviewed the updated draft policy on March 25, 2024 and recommended forwarding the policy to the City Council for adoption.
FISCAL IMPACT
There is no budget impact as a result of this action.
RECOMMENDATION
