Comments = Council members I write you today in support of what I view as a beloved member of the community. The Airport is a special place and some of my best memories have been working at the airport and uplifting others in the aviation field. I’ve personally trained and solo’d several students at this field. Most recently I was able to purchase a hangar as well. I am asking that this special place be protected so that not only I can enjoy our freedom and privilege to fly but so future generations of kids looking skyward may also do the same. As a professional pilot and flight instructor I do my best to “fly friendly” and encourage others to be respectful of our fellow community members nearby. For the most part flight operations do stay south of the field when doing work in the pattern. There are times when approaches must be made from the north, east, and west. Some of the noise is unavoidable and should be a consideration when buying property near the airport. I want to emphasize that I do not know anyone at the airport that intentionally operates in an unfriendly manner. Regarding pollution…. Just like any other hobby in Motorsports pollution is a side affect that no one likes. Most light aircraft run on 100 Octane low lead fuel. The lead has been a requirement for aircraft engines since the beginning of flight.
Recently The FAA has approved an alternative that is a safe drop in replacement called 100 Octane Unleaded. Like everything else in this country we are waiting on the infrastructure to be set up. The state has proposed a Bill SB1193 phasing out the use of 100LL by 2026.
Most of us embrace the transition to Unleaded fuel as long as it’s done with the infrastructure in place. In closing I appreciate your understanding my concerns as a member of the community. The fight to close and or limit airports has created the rise in traffic that we’ve seen here in Camarillo. With respect to the neighbors I would like to see the airport protected. It’s an asset for life flight ems operations, fire and sheriff offices and is as important as any of the exits on the 101 that bring visitors into our wonderful community.

Noise Issues- Airplane noise negative impacts one quality of life and property value. The noise would increase due to the amount of air traffic growth
Air Quality Issues- the air quality from both the mobile and stationary sources (airplanes, motor vehicles, ground service equipment (tugs, baggage & belt loaders, generators & cargo moving equipment), stationary sources (emergency generators, solvent degreasers, etc); produces pollutants in the air and carbon monoxide.
Traffic congestion- More traffic congestion not just to the freeway, but our city roads.
