This is a horrible, horrible idea. Please keep our area as it is. We don't want more building, more traffic and destruction of open space. More fields, please.
Thank you.

Comments City Councilmembers, I kindly request that you vote "no" on allowing car dealership development along the 101. This is a segment that is flat market growth. Research also shows that owners are also holding onto their cars longer and/or switching to other mobility options than ownership. There are auto malls in Thousand Oaks, Oxnard, and Ventura, therefore also a competitive market. Let's target opportunities that create prosperous jobs with the empty buildings we have, keep our community beautiful rather than “pave paradise and put up a parking lot” (Joni Mitchell).

Comments I'm opposing this act on building what is being planned on being a car dealership, car wash, etc. in this area from the West Hollywood developers.
As someone who resides in Camarillo but works very close to West Hollywood. I would like to point out how great it is to live in an area that is at the very least over crowded that has become and is becoming of our towns close to the 101 freeway.
We as residents do not benefit from this and much prefer things like healthier food options such as Whole Foods, Lassens, etc.
Coffee Shops may be acceptable if they are locally owned. We do not need to turn Camarillo into another project that has made Oxnard seem like a metropolis and many can say this is not ideal for anyone besides those who are profiting off of this.
Please look closer into what residents of all ages may benefit from that can make our town more comfortable than it already is to live in.

Comments With car dealerships to the north in Oxnard and to the south in Thousand Oaks, not to mention all of the dealerships in Ventura, I am opposed and feel it is inappropriate, redundant and not prudent to build dealerships in Camarillo. I also do not support the building of a car wash on the proposed site with Costco providing this service directly to the south.

Comments I am writing to request that the Camarillo City Council vote against the Agenda Item R. The residents of Camarillo already have car dealerships on Daily Drive. There are plenty of dealerships down the 101 in Oxnard for residents to purchase cars. There is also a large amount of car dealerships in Thousand Oaks. The City of Camarillo doesn't need to became the next Auto Mall on the 101 Freeway. Building up the rest of Ventura Blvd will create a San Fernando Valley feeling for our town. It will be closer to being completely built out. More building isn't necessarily for the better. The amount of commercial building in Camarillo the last couple of years has increased in such a short time. Years ago a friend came to visit our home. He told us to be careful that one day the whole area on either side of the 101 through Camarillo will be completely built up. We laughed and said our city wouldn't allow such a careless plan to destroy the charm of this pleasant valley.
Please do not approve Item R. Keep our town unique and not become over built. Thank you, Lauren De La Torre

Comments I hope the Council and the Planning Commission will oppose this resolution. Approving Flagship Dealerships with the intention to build out and bring in many more dealerships is most undesirable. Please consider the value, or lack of value to the community, and not simply the value to the ledgers of Faring. There are auto dealers and auto malls in Oxnard and Thousand Oaks. Please do not approve this misuse of space. I know Camarillo is desirable for residential as well as for businesses, and growth is necessary, but auto dealerships? No.
I would be surprised if the Council supports this, and I know that myself and other voters will be watching closely. Thank you.

1 Comments 4-23-24
To Whom It May Concern:
I am writing that I am opposed to the expansion of the
Camarillo Airport for getting larger aircraft landing here.
However, the is in violation of the 1976 Camarillo Airport Agreement: "The City of Camarillo and the County of Ventura entered into an Agreement in 1976 for the operation of the Camarillo Airport. This Agreement, which is available on the City’s website at www.cityofcamarillo.org/trending/, imposes restrictions on the airport operations including, but not limited to: limiting the size of aircraft; limiting the hours of operation; and ensuring that the airport remains a general aviation airport, not a commercial airport. ". Most of the population moved here to be away from airports. If someone wants a convenient airport they should move to be near
LAX or Burbank, etc.
I am opposed to the Costco and the car dealerships coming into Camarillo as it will create more traffic, air pollution, lost farmland (No Farms, No Food) and lowering our quality of life for residents. My family moved to Camarillo in 1962.
I am sure Mr. Adolfo Camarillo and his family are turning over in their crypts that is under St. Mary Magdalene Chapel on Ventura Blvd. of how you ruined his town and farm community.

Comments As a lifelong Camarillo resident, allowing more auto dealerships to be built in Camarillo makes absolutely no sense when there are multiple dealerships less than 4 miles north of the proposed location. This will not be a huge income generator for Camarillo. We do not need nor want auto dealerships to be built on perfectly good farm land. The remaining farm land in Camarillo is what will fill the underground aquifers that is sorely needed in our area. Please reject this proposal. Thank you.

Comments Auto dealerships? Are you serious? Sure, it helps the tax base, but at what cost? We're doing perfectly well as we are. We love Camarillo because of its character, open spaces, clean air, and overall environment. Car dealerships are unattractive, create unneeded traffic, and do not jibe with the environment that Camarillo has historically worked to maintain. Do we want Camarillo to be just another generic city, or do we want it to stay special? If someone wants to buy a car they can go to Oxnard, Ventura, or Westlake Village.

Comments The addition of Auto Dealerships along the 101 will detract from the beauty of Camarillo. Have you ever seen an attractive one? They're gaudy with their neon signs beckoning members of the public to sample their wares. Their outdoor premises are filled with dozens of vehicles providing the attractive appeal of a parking lot.
I listened the developer's pitch to the Planning Commission; on the one hand, he claims not wanting to build an auto mall. On the other, he states, "Our goal is to build flagship dealerships here...and
continue to expand it as more and more dealers are excited to join." What are we to believe?
We should encourage less intrusive development supporting Camarillo's reputation as a pleasant, wholesome city.

Comments Regarding building car dealerships between Home Depot and Springville. I think we have enough dealerships in Oxnard and Ventura and there is no need for more. They have a perfect area where many dealerships are together by Cosco and in Oxnard.
We also have them in TO and it is unnecessary for us to have them in Camarillo. The drive is short in both directions and we also have the ability to online order.

Comments The development of multiple car dealerships between the Camarillo Airport and the 101 Freeway makes very little sense.
These types of businesses already flourish in our neighboring cities of Thousand Oaks, Oxnard, and Ventura. We simply don't need more of them. I understand that the city would benefit from the additional tax revenues, but if the land were to be developed beyond the current farming operations, surely there would be better uses for the properties. Installing a series of giant parking lots with bright lighting seems oppositional to the small-town reputation of Camarillo. That's why most residents choose to live here - to avoid the blight of urban sprawl. To reside in a place that truly feels like a community, where it is safe to raise families and to walk our dogs in the evenings. We love our small businesses and restaurants, our quaint City Hall, and the bandstand in the park. Please do not destroy this special city with unneeded (and unwanted) auto dealerships.

Comments Camarillo is a uniquely beautiful area, in all of California and the entire country. Poor planning has allowed commercial
development to create a "strip mall" environment, which dominates the public space throughout our area. Rather than support a beautiful, walkable, bikable, area of shops,
businesses, homes and public squares, we must consider being bombarded with another over-sized, over-lit, eyesore along our Hwy 101 corridor. Do we want to be a destination such as a San Luis Obispo or just another Oxnard? When will we choose beauty and livable function over the lure of easy money? PLEASE, NO AUTO MALL !!!

Comments We moved here in 1972 because of the quaint small town feel.
Over the last 50+ years we have seen Camarillo grow, but it still maintains that quaint, family style small town feel. I think the last thing we need is more auto dealerships considering that there are huge ones in Thousand Oaks and Ventura and even Oxnard. We need to maintain our diminishing open spaces as much as possible to keep this quaint small town feel of Camarillo alive. Please do not let this happen. Otherwise one day soon, we will just be another crowded, cement laden, Orange County.

Comments My husband and I are millenials working in the govt sector. We have lived here for 8 years and call this beautiful city home. We find peace and rest here from our busy lives. We always call this city "the City of Charm". Please do not recommend adding automobile dealerships to our beautiful charming city. It simply does not fit with the character of Camarillo. We don't oppose development in the lot such as coffee shops, bookstores, and other shops that add value and benefit to the lives of
Camarillans. We have plenty of existing dealerships in Oxnard, Ventura, and Thousand Oaks. Only you, the City Council, have the power to say no. There is no reason to cave to these companies and no legal precedence. It's a simple denial to that specific use while others can be approved. Please consider your residents' comments and keep this the City of Charm. Thank you.
