Subject: Camarillo Council on Aging (CCOA) and Area Housing Authority (AHA) Board Unscheduled Vacancies – Confirm Appointments
BACKGROUND
Volunteer Advisory Boards are an integral part of local government that offer a way to engage residents in the democratic process, enhance community involvement, and help bring the city and community together by providing a resident’s perspective.
In Spring 2024, the City posted the appropriate annual volunteer recruitment notice for vacancies on various City committees and commissions, and made official appointments in May 2024.
The City recently received notice of two unscheduled vacancies on the Camarillo Council on Aging (CCOA) Board and one unscheduled vacancy on the Area Housing Authority (AHA) of Ventura County. The Local Appointment Committee met on July 11, 2024 to review applications and rank remaining candidates to fill future vacancies and the recommendation has been made to fill the vacancies utilizing the approved list of candidates.
DISCUSSION
Formal appointment needs to be made by the City Council, and the terms will take effect immediately upon appointment. The Local Appointment Committee recommends the appointments of:
•Greg Erickson and Steven Randall to the Council on Aging to fill unexpired terms through June 2026; and
•Randy Chapman to the Area Housing Authority of Ventura County to fill an unexpired term through June 2027.
FISCAL IMPACT
There is no budget impact as a result of this action.

RECOMMENDATION
Appoint the following:
•Greg Erickson and Steven Randall to the Camarillo Council on Aging to fill unexpired terms through June 2026; and
•Randy Chapman to the Area Housing Authority of Ventura County to fill an unexpired term through June 2027.
