Comments My name is Regina Hatcher-Crawford.
I am the Ventura County NAACP President and California
Hawaii NAACP Central Area Director. Representing all of Ventura County and central coast California.
Let it be known the NAACP is opposed to Prop. 36. The bill is deceiving and determinant and will adversely affect prople of color.
It is another systematic means of creating over incarnation and sentencing, primarily of the black and brown community.
While we do not support the actions of people who participate in smash and grab. And again the ideaogy of it intent was to stop these actions. Prop 36 was written to address the fraustions of smash and grab crimes, not to address the deeper root causes of it and it does not address the other adverse issues written in bill or the root problems written in the pervious bill prop. 47. Prop 36 is not the answer.
Prop. 47 was not good for us and Prop. 36 is not either. We suggest if you dont know, you should know what is truly written in SB 36. Don't let prop. 36 be like other bills that suppports life 1 sentencing.
Again voting NO will allow the author to go back and write a bill that will serve not just the interest of prosecutors but a bill that will be fair and equal for not just some people, but ALL people! Vote NO to Prop. 36!
