Subject: Citywide Opticom Installation (TM-2024-4) – Award of Contract
BACKGROUND
Specification No. TM-2024-4, Citywide Opticom Installation Project (Project) will provide Opticom device upgrades at various signalized intersections in the City including 57 city- owned intersections and 17 state-owned intersections. The installation of Opticom devices allows first responder vehicles, when responding to emergencies with lights and sirens activated, to efficiently and safely pass through these intersections by automatically signaling the traffic signal lights to switch to green.
In May 2024, Ventura County Transportation Commission approved an Incident Responder Grant Program Round 3 award of $500,000 for the Project. In June 2024, the City used the grant funds to purchase the necessary Opticom equipment and the devices have been received and are ready for installation.
