Position Oppose
Comments I don't mind having a starbucks there. I oppose a drive through though. Drive throughs beget driving, increasing VMT and traffic. It is particularly on the nose that the developer wants to delete the text that "drive thru uses are discouraged". We've known for years that drive throughs make cities less pleasant to be in when not in a vehicle. Don't renege on the plan.
It also seems a bit absurd that this is CEQA VMT exempt due to being "local serving retail" when it is intentionally being placed on the freeway to serve non-locals using the freeway to pass through Camarillo. There was more investigation into the drive through, which is discouraged per the specific plan and in my opinion shouldn't be allowed at all, than the VMT generated by the project, which as noted by state law is "the most appropriate measure of transportation impacts".
