Comments Dear Camarillo City Council,
My name is Jasmine Duron, and I am writing on behalf of the Autism Society Ventura County and our Advocacy Committee.
Our committee actively monitors city council, school board, and County of Ventura agendas to identify topics of interest to the disability community and advocate for this often
underrepresented population. A few weeks ago, we wrote in public comment asking that Camarillo consider neurodiverse populations in the Homelessness Strategic Plan update.
Autism Society Ventura County was overjoyed that your
consultant reached out to us for a meeting. The team of consultants that two of our Advocacy Committee Members met with was sincere and collaborative. After the hour-long meeting, our Committee Members left feeling heard and hopeful. Autism Society Ventura County would like to thank you, staff, and the consultants at Lesar Development for being so thorough in their research and working to understand the needs of the entire community. We are hopeful that your Homelessness Strategic Plan will reflect compassion and innovative ideas for people with Autism and other disabilities. While we proudly serve the entire Ventura County, Autism Society Ventura County has our office in Camarillo, and calls Camarillo “home.” We are proud to do so. Thank you for the partnership, and your leadership in 1 inclusive planning for those who are unhoused.
