She reported on a hate crime incident that was reported in a Ventura County Star article "Mexicans Target of an Apparent Hate Crime in Camarillo" and thanked the Camarillo Police Commander Tennessen and the Ventura County Sheriff's Office for their swift response and Joshua Burt, Regional Director for Anti-Defamation League Santa Barbara/Tri-Counties, for the immediate denouncement of the incident. She stated acts of hate have no place in Camarillo or anywhere else.

Vice Mayor Tennessen agreed there is no place for hate targeted towards anyone, whether it's race, national origin, or faith/religion. He expressed concern over several assembly and senate bills discussed as part of the 2025 legislative update by the California League of Cities. He noted some of these bills will have an adverse impact on the City by usurping local elected officials' authority to govern the City. He asked staff to closely follow the bills as they go through the legislative hearing process and set up meetings with the Council and local state representatives to state the city's position on the bills. He requested the meeting adjourn in memory of James Anthony Walker.
