Water and Sewer Rate Proposals
Significant funding challenges require long-term "generational" investments in our water and sewer infrastructure to maintain safe and reliable services. The funds generated by rates provide high-quality drinking water and sanitary sewer services to customers of City water and the Camarillo Sanitary District. Typically, rates are evaluated and adjusted every two to four years to account for infrastructure needs, inflation, water supply shortages, water quality challenges, regulatory mandates, and more. The City's 2025 Water and Sewer Rate Study has identified key factors impacting financial plans and funding projections. These include historic inflation, increasing supply costs, funding needs for costly but critical infrastructure projects, changes in customer water demand, and current and future debt service. As a result, new rate increases are being proposed to address long-term needs for our water and sewer systems.
These open houses are not a public hearing and no actions approving or denying any rates will be taken. The meetings are open to the public and will provide information about the proposed rates and an opportunity for the community to better understand the rate-setting process and the proposed rates that will be considered at a scheduled public hearing on May 14, 2025. At this hearing, the City Council and Camarillo Sanitary District Board will consider the proposed rates for adoption. Please visit cityofcamarillo.org/utilityrates for additional information about the public hearing and property owner/customer rights to object, protest, or provide comments.
