Subject: Fiscal Year 2025/26 Proposed Budget Review
BACKGROUND
Staff will present an overview of the proposed budget for Fiscal Year 2025/26. Direction to staff may be given during this budget review; however, any action to implement such direction will be made when the budget is presented to the City Council for approval on June 11, 2025.
DISCUSSION
The Fiscal Year 2025/26 proposed budget for the City’s General Fund is operationally balanced, meaning operating revenues are sufficient to fund operating expenditures.
The purpose of the proposed budget review workshop will be to provide an overview of the City’s and Camarillo Sanitary District’s revenue and expenditure trends/forecasts as well as some of the newly proposed programs for next fiscal year. This meeting will help staff finalize the proposed budget to be presented to the City Council on June 11, 2025.
The City has two programs that focus on financial support to nonprofits. The recommended funding for these programs is included in the proposed budget.
Community Service Grants
In December 2024, the Finance Department held a virtual Community Service Grants (CSG) Workshop to discuss the program for FY 2025/26. Representatives from 25 organizations attended. Following the workshop, 20 applications were received by the January 2025 deadline, totaling $184,338. The Finance Committee recommended funding 19 organizations for a total of $180,738.
