Comments I believe the city council should take a stand against the abduction of our friends and neighbors by armed, unidentified, and masked thugs working for ICE. At the same time, the VC Sheriff and VC Police are intimidating volunteer legal observers as they witness these abductions firsthand. The Council should direct the VC Sheriff and VC Police to stop cooperating with ICE. Instead, they should protect our volunteer legal observers as they document the violent activities of ICE. The City Council and Ventura LE should be protecting ALL of its constituents from these unlawful abductions.

Comments I have been a resident of Camarillo for 44 years and I love this community with all my heart. However, what has been
happening over the last few weeks in our city and cities throughout Ventura County is shameful. Members of our
community are being kidnapped off of the streets by masked people in unmarked cars with no badge and no identification.
Our community members are not being given their fundamental legal right to due process. This is making those in our community feel scared and unsafe. I ask today that the City Council make a stand to not cooperate with ICE. I ask today that the City Council ensures our law enforcement officers are working to protect our citizens and not ICE. I ask that our law enforcement offers follow the guidelines recently established by the Los Angeles Police Department regarding ICE. I
understand that with the current political climate it is not possible to remove ICE from our communities. However, as the City Council, it is your job to ensure that all members of our community feel safe and supported. We as a community need to be doing all we can to make sure this happens. Thank you for your time and attention to this issue.

Comments Dear Camarillo City Council,
As a resident of Camarillo, I am writing to urge our city leadership to take a clear and public stance against the harmful and destabilizing impact that ICE continues to have on our community. ICE’s presence here is not abstract — families are being separated, trust in public institutions is eroding, and our neighbors are living in fear.
Ventura has already taken a public stance by passing a Care Policy. Ojai has followed suit, and Oxnard has publicly committed to moving in that direction. Other cities across California — like Huntington Park and Bell — have long led the way in protecting their residents from unnecessary and harmful entanglements with federal immigration enforcement.
Camarillo should not lag behind.
With the recent passage of a bill increasing ICE’s budget, their power is growing — and without local action, so is their reach.
That’s why it’s critical that Camarillo not only refuse cooperation with ICE, but also actively enforce existing California laws like the California Values Act (SB 54), and uphold the constitutional rights of all residents, regardless of immigration status. 1 As a community rooted in values of family, safety, and dignity, we must not allow our city to be complicit in violating those very principles. Please follow the lead of other cities, listen to your constituents, and take immediate steps to protect our
community.
Sincerely,
Edid Valenzuela
Camarillo Resident

Item Number or Subject CPD | VCSO Supporting ICE in Our County-Spencer Richey Position Oppose
Comments Camarillo City Council,
Recently someone from the local group VcDefensa recorded a police officer | sheriff's deputy here in Camarillo outright admitting upon being asked that the Camarillo Police
Department (CPD) | Ventura County Sheriff's Office (VCSO) has been accompanying ICE vehicles to protect them (from
who?...people wanting to get the ICE agents' identities they're too afraid to give for some reason?) while they snatch up OUR highly important and valuable agricultural workforce in their horrific refinement of themselves as the American Gestapo.
I'll say that again: we are DIRECTLY PAYING FOR ICE TO
BRUTALLY HURT OUR OWN TOWN AND COUNTY via our local
taxes paying a police force that we know is actively helping ICE by protecting them.
First and foremost, we already have VERY firm evidence that some non-ICE agents are completely concealing themselves to accurately disguise themselves as ICE agents and thus
completely get away with committing all sorts of kidnapping, rape, and sexual assault of people.
1 Seems kind of counter-intuitive for me to have to pay for a local police force who's actually making our city and county LESS safe by creating an environment that serves the ability to commit crimes without even being questioned to non-state agents on a silver platter, don't you think?
To address the elephant in the room, I also NEVER consented to having MY local tax dollars via funding collaborationist local law enforcement pay for this MASSIVELY dangerous expansion of the US into a police state where shadowy unidentifiable agents violently, WITHOUT CLEAR REASON BEYOND "tHeY lOoKeD
IlEgAl", mind, snatch people off the streets, out of their workplaces, and even at their important appointments like getting much-needed medical care and, get this, DOING
MANDATORY CHECK-INS WITH IMMIGRATION AUTHORITIES
and put them into also-unidentifiable vehicles to cart them off to ghastly detention centers where multiple people have ALREADY died to due to how dire the conditions are getting in these places and, get this, PEOPLE ARE STARTING TO
OUTRIGHT BE REFUSED RELEASE EVEN IF THEIR PLAN UPON
RELEASE IS VERY FIRMLY TO PAY FOR THEIR OWN RAPID
DEPORTATION OUT OF THE US.
And, again, ICE is KNOWN to be doing this to even US citizens and others who are legally here under the "tHeY lOoKeD iLeGaL" excuse without bothering to ask ANYONE first if that is actually the case, only ever releasing a FEW people if enough people raise the world's hugest fuss over it, which is DEFINITELY setting the stage for them to start DELIBERATELY rounding up US citizens they don't like, such as elderly and disabled people who are deemed to be "too much of a drain" on society by requiring "too much" in the way of safety net programs or taxpayer-funded medical care.
It'll be any day now that US citizens end up dead at the hands of ICE via being killed by the brutal conditions inside their detention centers, if it of course hasn't ALREADY happened and we just don't know about it yet.
In other words, we people of Camarillo are via our local taxes funding collaborationist law enforcement agencies outright paying for ICE to, unless completely stopped SOON, one day round up OUR OWN ELDERLY NEIGHBORS as well as all of our OTHER neighbors who are deemed unfit for the MAGA state and kill them by sending them to these horrid detention centers where prisoners aren't even getting enough food or water, let alone basic medical care.
Perhaps more importantly than that for people who disagree with me on if immigrants should be in the US without legal papers formally granting them permission to and if ICE is really going to deliberately do those sorts of things to US citizens if allowed, I also for one NEVER consented to having MY local tax dollars pay for the destruction of MY local economy via our police collaborating with them, and yes, destroying our local 2 economy's EXACTLY what these ICE raids are doing because there's been SIGNIFICANT media coverage of the fact that our local farmers, our venerated local farmers who are much of the reason why we're still surrounded by such lovely farms here instead of becoming a traffic-choked concrete jungle like the San Fernando Valley's been for years, are down literally 70% of their typical workforce now because, guess what, they haven't been able to offer wages high enough to attract enough people who were born here and honestly thanks to our aging
population and inability to attract or retain abled-enough younger workers we don't HAVE enough US-born people to
power our agriculture with their physical labor anyway.
Our agricultural products not only HUGELY fund and power our local economy because the rest of the country and much of the rest of the WORLD happily pays our local farmers for them, but notice how I said "the rest of the country" in that.
We literally feed the rest of the country.
If even "just" 20-30% of our crops are rotting in the fields and orchards due to not being harvested in time, let alone the whopping 70% of local crops we're looking at this happening to due to that being how much of our agricultural workforce we've lost due to ICE being allowed to round up whoever here they don't like with impunity, that's not only horrible for us economically but the sheer lack of produce and other
agricultural products across the rest of the country IS going to directly cause severe shortages and severe price spikes that WILL result in many Americans outright losing their ability to stay properly fed for who knows how long.
And Trump and friends are ABSOLUTELY banking on this
becoming our reality because they know DAMN well they'll get way more people to serve their own neighbors and family members to ICE on a silver platter if there's a promise of being able to feed themselves or their families that they're not going to find elsewhere.
So, again, THROUGH OUR LOCAL TAXES FUNDING A
COLLABORATIONIST POLICE DEPARTMENT WE ARE DIRECTLY
FUNDING THE CREATION OF THE CONDITIONS IN WHICH
EVEN MILLIONS OF US CITIZENS WILL LIKELY END UP KILLED
BY ICE IF ICE IS ALLOWED TO KEEP DOING WHAT THEY'RE
DOING FOR LONG ENOUGH.
Simulteaneously, the drastic and severe loss of income from not having anywhere near enough agricultural products to sell in the first place due to the loss of 70% of their workforce IS going to sooner or later force our local farmers to sell their farms because farming's extremely expensive as it is to the point that between all their costs for equipment, supplies, and yes, labor even at the low price point often-undocumented immgrants will work for, farmers do NOT as a whole have any real cushion against financial devastation that cause the loss of their farms. 3 And who typically gets the farms these smaller farmers lose? Either megacorporations or developers who often get HUGE paydays from the US federal government, including for
operating private prisons and other carceral facilities.
So, yeah, ICE is by mass-incarcerating our agricultural workforce also directly causing the death of smaller American farms like the ones that heavily populate Camarillo and Ventura County.
I don't know about you, but I'd REALLY much rather not also be paying for ICE to destroy the very local landscapes I love and take pride in via my local taxes being used to fund a
collaborationist law enforcement force that will cause our farms to get paved over or turned into more ugly and deadly ICE detention facilities-concentration camps, really-that'll likely soon enough use their prisoners as literal slave labor in an evil attempt at furnishing enough labor to prevent the worst food shortages resulting from US farms having their workforce incarcerated by ICE due to how our 13th Amendment explicitly permits slavery of incarcerated people.
In short, you are all playing a VERY politically dangerous game (as in, you're seriously risking your future abilities to be elected or appointed anywhere again in the future at best and the willingness of Camarillans to bother to pay local taxes at all at worst) by using OUR tax dollars to destroy OUR little slice of paradise by funding a police force who's actively helping out ICE in their reign of terror both here and across the rest of the country, ESPECIALLY since I'm, believe it or not, not REMOTELY alone in being a Camarillan who despises this.
We also need WAY firmer laws and measures implemented and actively enforced to actually help protect Camarillans and other people from being imprisoned by ICE, but the VERY huge
concern right now is that our local taxes are funding an openly collaborationist police force who's literally and openly helping ICE destroy our county and everything that makes it wonderful.
Sincerely,
Spencer Richey
Highly Concerned Lifelong Camarillan

Comments I also plan to give this comment verbally at the meeting, but in case I am not able or run out of time I am submitting it here as well. It may also have extra details omitted in the verbal comment due to time constraints.
The City of Camarillo, not to mention this country as a whole, is in a moral crisis. We have recently seen a significant increase in the activity of ICE (Immigration and Customs Enforcement) and its affiliates, such as HS (Homeland Security) and CBP
(Customs and Border Patrol), as well as a massive increase in their brutality. Fear pervades the streets of the county as unmarked vehicles have been appearing anywhere and
everywhere, with unidentified and heavily armed agents (or those impersonating them) jumping out to brutally assault and kidnap anyone they believe is a so-called “illegal.” This is even happening here in Camarillo, and the fear and anger are especially prevalent in one area, where ICE has a field office.
Trust in our local police and sheriff departments is lower than ever as documented evidence of law enforcement assisting or protecting ICE in their operations continues to surface. The higher levels of government refuse to listen to the voices of the People, so now we turn to you to address this crisis.
1 We the People do not ask, but demand that the City of Camarillo refuse to cooperate with ICE, and ideally ban them from our communities, as well as actively protect our immigrant
neighbors, regardless of whether they are legal or "illegal." This is the bare minimum you can do, and as you can see, the majority of your constituents want this. While I know not all of you are liberal, in my opinion, liberal politicians of the last decade have been severely lacking in backbone; a willingness to stand up for their ideals even to their own detriment. This is especially the case with those more moderate/centrist than their left wing counterparts. I hope all of you will show some backbone going forward. Some of you have already shown
some backbone, but others have severely disappointed us.
We are entering a dangerous period of history for this country and the world. If nothing or not enough is done to remedy the situation, the People’s dissatisfaction will reach a climax sooner or later, and after every legitimate avenue of action has failed or been exhausted, the People will surely choose those avenues that are not. And the first step in preventing that kind of escalation of the current situation is earning the People’s trust.
The world won’t change for the better unless we are able to trust each other. Right now that trust just doesn't exist. It is your job to restore that trust. Lastly, I adhere to the idea that one should live by the rules they have set for themselves. For me, one of those is being a morally good person on the right side of history. I promised myself this long ago, and I will be damned if I let Nazism, Jim Crow laws, etc. be resurrected in my lifetime! So, we ask you, city council, to at least do the bare minimum and be more than, as a famous cultural icon of my generation once said, a “spineless, pale, pathetic lot!” This comment is especially directed at those on the council that may be more moderate/centrist or outright conservative. Remember, the community is watching, and we will remember what you did or did not do in this time of crisis, especially when we go to the polls.

Comments Dear Camarillo City Council,
As a Camarillo resident, I’m speaking from a place of concern and disappointment. Knowing that ICE operates out of our city — that families in our own neighborhoods are living in fear because of this — is something I can’t ignore.
When I see cities like Ventura and Ojai taking real steps to limit ICE’s reach and protect immigrant families, it makes me wonder: why not us? Why hasn’t Camarillo stepped up? Even Oxnard has announced they’re working toward policy change.
Camarillo should be part of that momentum — not left behind.
The presence of an ICE office here sends a message that our city is aligned with policies that harm, divide, and traumatize families. That’s not the kind of community I want to raise my family in. That’s not the kind of place I thought Camarillo was.
With ICE’s budget increasing, we can’t afford to stay silent. I’m asking you — not just as officials, but as fellow community members — to take action. Enforce California’s laws that limit ICE collaboration. Publicly commit to protecting the rights and dignity of all residents. Help restore a sense of safety and 1 belonging in our city.
We can’t change what’s already happened, but we can choose what kind of city we want to be moving forward.
Sincerely,
Arleane Oco
Camarillo Resident

Comments Dear Camarillo City Council Members,
I ask that each of you consult your own heart and consciense as you consider the moment we're in. Yes, our country, like most, is dealing with immigration, legal and illegal. It's a problem that needs to be addressed but masked agents hastily throwing people into unmarked vehicles, terrorizing our community, is not who we are as Americans or as the City of Camarillo.
We ask you to make clear that ICE, in it's current form, carrying out it's immoral policies is not welcome in Camarillo.
The bad guys need to go but we need not lose ourselves in the process. History is watching.

There needs to be regulations monitoring their actions

Comments Good evening, Council members. My name is Alyssa Medina, and I am here on behalf of Planned Parenthood Central Coast Action Fund. We stand in solidarity with the residents of Camarillo who are alarmed and afraid as ICE activity moves from the margins of the county into the heart of their
neighborhoods.
We are deeply grateful to Councilmembers Martinez-Bravo and Santangelo, and Mayor Kildee, for signing on to the recent “Stand in Solidarity with Ventura County” statement. We now urge the full Council to continue building on that commitment to protect the health, safety, and dignity of all Camarillo residents.
Right now, unmarked vehicles, unidentifiable agents, and reports of local law enforcement cooperating with ICE are creating real fear. People are afraid to call local law enforcement for help. This undermines public safety, erodes trust, and directly impacts our ability to care for our patients and their families.
We are calling on you to:
Publicly commit to no cooperation with ICE.
Support the legal defense fund proposed by Supervisor Lopez. 1 Urge the Ventura County Sheriff's Office to adopt LAPD’s de- escalation and non-cooperation guidelines.
Host a “Know Your Rights” workshop like the City of Moorpark has recently done.
This is not just about policy, it’s about people. People are being harmed. People are afraid. And people are looking to their local leaders to act.

Comments My name is Gene Scheppner, I was born and raised in Ventura County, I’m a current resident and homeowner in Camarillo for more than 25 years.
I’m here to ask you NOT to normalize armed, masked
abductions in our community. If one of us is not safe than NONE of us are safe. This is a public safety EMERGENCY. As a woman, I do not feel safe here now. Apparently, some heavily armed, masked goon can throw you into a white panel van at any moment never to be seen again.
ICE and its associated violent dangerous imposters are not welcome here. Immigrants and field workers are part of us. We are all connected. We live in harmony together every day, in grocery stores, parks, shopping malls - everywhere. Immigrants built this country and this county. Sending dangerous armed, masked men into our community (a major agricultural
producer) is so overwhelmingly wrong. We don’t want them in our peaceful community. This is a manufactured crisis. There is no “undocumented person crisis” here and everybody knows it.
The only CRISIS is the deliberate damage being done here by ICE and masked wanna-bes.
1 The visual of heavily armed, masked men chasing hardworking field workers through agriculture land makes me sick to my stomach. It has activated many of us and it should activate YOU to do something about it. Make it Stop.
Please demand adherence to the constitution, due process and an end to this unbelievable nightmare.
Liberty and justice for ALL.

Comments It is now nearly two weeks, since I learned of the presence of an I.C.E. base of operations in Camarillo, and in fact within a short distance of my own house. This is nothing less than the proverbial viper brought up in our bosoms, and deserves only to be eradicated.
The time has truly come to say, Not In Our Backyard. Not In Our Backyard will we allow our neighbors, our friends, our
employees, and essential workers and small businesspeople to be stalked, harassed, intimidated, captured, abducted, and all but sold down the road to inhospitable places. Not In Our Backyard do we countenance vigilantes prowling the roads, faking their licenses, suborning the Police Department and Sheriff's Office, frightening children and their parents alike. Not In Our Backyard should we permit unauthorized personnel to stalk, harass, intimidate, and terrorize the weak and helpless for no fault of their own, whose only offense, if it may be called such, is to seek their fortunes and eke out a meager living in this fabled Land of Opportunity. Not In Our Backyard shall we suffer lies to prejudice our opinion of these same hardworking, kind-hearted, generous innocents. Not In Our Backyard can we tolerate the refugee to be turned from our doors, nor the builders of our country to see their work wasted, nor women 1 and children to be horrified and heart-broken by the loss of their loved ones and livelihoods. Not In Our Backyard is this acceptable. I.C.E. must cease operations in this city and county at once.

Comments I have lived in Camarillo for over 35 years and I’m grateful to have grown up here, along with my extended family. As a homeowner and a former City employee, I implore the City Council to take immediate steps in response to the rise in masked law enforcement, ICE overreach, and the targeting of immigrants and political dissenters, including our students and lawful residents. You have real power to protect the families & individuals in our community at this critical time. I urge you to pass a city ordinance requiring visible identification for all law enforcement operating within city limits, including federal agents. I urge you to prohibit local police from collaborating with or assisting ICE operations, especially those that occur without warrants or clear justification. I urge you to work with school districts, our university, and hospitals to establish and/or expand local sanctuary policies and rapid response systems when federal agents attempt enforcement actions. The rise of secret policing and disappearances is not just a federal issue; it is also a local emergency. Thank you for your work building our city as a place of safety, not surveillance and fear.

Comments Public Safety & Sanctuary Policies
- No link between sanctuary policies and increased crime: A study published in the Journal of Economic Behavior &

experience more crime. In fact, some saw decreases in property crime.
- Improved trust in law enforcement: Sanctuary policies encourage immigrant communities to report crimes and
cooperate with police, which can lead to better public safety outcomes.
- Lower violent crime rates: Counties that adopted sanctuary policies in 2014 saw a 17.9-point drop in violent crimes per 100,000 residents, saving an estimated $101 million annually in crime-related costs.
💰 Economic Impact of Immigrants in California
- $1 trillion+ in economic output: Immigrants in California — including undocumented residents — contribute over $1 trillion to the state’s economy.
- $8.5 billion in taxes from undocumented immigrants: Despite limited access to public services, undocumented Californians pay billions in taxes that support schools, infrastructure, and healthcare.
1 - $275 billion loss from mass deportations: A UC Merced study found that removing undocumented workers would cost
California $275 billion, devastate agriculture and construction, and eliminate $23 billion in annual tax revenue.
🧠 Social & Community Effects
- Mixed-status families are deeply rooted: Nearly 75% of undocumented Californians have lived in the U.S. for over a decade, and most live in households with U.S. citizen children or spouses.
- Fear of ICE raids harms local businesses: Latino-owned businesses in areas targeted by ICE have reported up to 80% drops in sales, as customers stay home out of fear.

2 Proposal for City of Camarillo: Community
Protections from Federal Immigration Enforcement
Purpose
To strengthen trust, protect families, and uphold Camarillo’s commitment to dignity and inclusion by establishing policies that limit collaboration with ICE.
Why It Matters
● Families are being separated: ICE operations in our area have led to deportations that divide households and traumatize children.
● Public safety is jeopardized: Fear of deportation makes immigrants less likely to report crimes or engage with emergency services.
● Economic harm: Immigrant workers and small businesses contribute to our local economy. Instability harms everyone.
Proposed City Actions
Prohibit city staff and law enforcement from aiding ICE without a judicial warrant Fund legal aid programs for immigrant residents
Launch “Know Your Rights” campaigns citywide
Require public reporting of ICE activity in schools, parks, and public buildings Advocate for protective legislation at the state level
Our Values
“We believe in compassion, safety, and the right for all Camarillo families to thrive—regardless of immigration status.”
Join us in reaffirming Camarillo as a welcoming and inclusive city
Thanks you for your service to our community,
Jay Berger

Some Dollar and Cents issues to consider:
Public Safety & Sanctuary Policies
● No link between sanctuary policies and increased crime: A study published in the Journal of Economic Behavior & Organization found no evidence that sanctuary cities experience more crime. In fact, some saw decreases in property crime.
● Improved trust in law enforcement: Sanctuary policies encourage immigrant communities to report crimes and cooperate with police, which can lead to better public safety outcomes.
● Lower violent crime rates: Counties that adopted sanctuary policies in 2014 saw a 17.9-point drop in violent crimes per 100,000 residents, saving an estimated $101 million annually in crime-related costs.

Comments To the City of Camarillo City Council, Mayor, and Fellow Residents of Camarillo,
Not only does our thriving economy depend upon the labor of immigrants, the health of our vibrant culture relies upon the marketplace of ideas offered by people from all parts of the planet. The Trump administration, through ICE and its hateful policies, is treating our residents in a despicable and shameful manner. These policies are also unconstitutional. We are supposed to be a country of laws, but ICE has been given carte blanche to terrorize citizens and non-citizens alike. I urge our city government to take a stand by:
-Becoming a sanctuary city
-Prohibiting local law enforcement from inquiring about immigration status
-Refusing to cooperate with ICE whenever possible
-Requiring ICE to be uniformed, unmasked, and to carry
identification
-Keep ICE out of schools, churches, and workplaces
This is the very least we as a community can do to protect the rights of all community members and to safeguard our way of 1 life. Camarillo, we are better than this!

Comments = Dear Councilmembers,
I'm reaching out because our city must take urgent steps to respond to the rise in masked law enforcement, ICE overreach, and the targeting of immigrants and political dissenters, including students and lawful residents.
As a local official, you have real power to protect our diverse community. I’m urging you to:
- Pass a city ordinance requiring visible identification for all law enforcement operating within city limits, including federal agents.
- Prohibit local police from cooperating with or facilitating ICE operations, especially those that occur without warrants or clear justification.
- Work with school districts, universities, and hospitals to establish and/or double down on local sanctuary policies and rapid response systems when federal agents attempt enforcement actions.
The rise of secret policing and disappearances is not just a federal issue; it’s a local emergency. Our city should be a place of safety, not surveillance and fear.

Comments = We "Stand in Solidarity with Ventura County" . We thank Mayor Kildee and Councilmembers Martinez-Bravo and Santangelo for standing in support of immigrants rights, public safety and protecting our Constitutional Rights. We hope Councilmember Trembley and Vice Mayor Tennessen will also "Stand in Solidarity" with their fellow representatives.
ICE activity in Ventura County is not keeping our communities safer. Frankly, my family never thought we would see our federal government officials act in such a reckless, cruel and inhumane way. Masked unidentifiable agents, heavily armed, in unmarked vehicles, using racial profile targeting and arresting people without warrants is unacceptable. The unlawful actions of ICE officers and Customs and Border Patrol agents endanger our residents and traumatize families. Is this the America we live in now; where my wife and daughters need to live in fear because of their brown skin? Clearly, it is time to defend our democracy and constitutional rights that are being usurped by our federal government.
We are counting on Camarillo's City Council, Ventura County's Sheriff's Office, Camarillo's Police Officers and Ventura County District Attorney's Office to protect our rights, ensure public safety and fulfill their sworn Constitutional Oath.
Respectfully,
David & Rebecca Gilbertson

Comments My name is Liza Diniakos. I am a Program Manager with the Mixteco/Indigena Community Organizing Project (MICOP). I am here today as a concerned resident of Ventura County to ask for your support to end all collaboration with ICE in the City of Camarillo.
Aside from the increased traffic caused by ICE’s processing center at 321 Cortez Circle in Camarillo which dispatches and receives ICE and other agency vehicles at all hours of the day and night, there is also a rise in the use of law enforcement to aid this agency’s purpose.
ICE does not hold itself accountable, but asks others to be accountable to it, such as law enforcement. An example of ICE’s blatant disregard for rules and professionalism is this.
Yesterday, a staff person from MICOP attended an ICE check-in for an individual who is a client of MICOP. The staff simply asked for the ICE personnel’s name. The result is the door was shut in our staff person’s face by this rogue individual. Yet, ICE can expect assistance from our law enforcement? This agency without regard for rules and professionalism can behave as though law enforcement should support their lawless purpose? 1 ICE agents in our communities are behaving like terrorists.
They wear masks, they treat people disrespectfully and in some cases, cause physical injury. We, as community members are paying their salaries. It is wrong and it is not how we, as a community, believe people should be treated.
Please be accountable to the people of Camarillo. End ICE involvement in Camarillo.

Comments Greetings!
Like so many of our Camarillo residents, I am seeking answers regarding the frightening ICE activity in our community. Our beautiful, hardworking friends are being harassed and carted off to who knows where.
•What is Camarillo doing to protect our immigrants?
•What is Camarillo doing to get and keep ICE out?
•What roles are our police officers playing in any ICE presence… are they assisting ICE?
•What are our local businesses doing (ie Home Depot, our hospitals, lodging, churches,Parks and Rec)?
•Are we requiring ICE ID, names, mask removal?
•Are there ICE detention centers in Camarillo/Ventura County? Where are our local detainees being held/sent?
What can Camarillo citizenry do in this crisis situation? We need to be a sanctuary!
Thank you!

Comments Dear Councilmembers
Today is my 43 birthday. For nearly half my life ICE as an agency didn’t exist. It was only founded in 2003 in the wake of the terror attacks as an excuse to “crack down” on those who are
different. Today legislation has passed giving ICE a larger budget than even our own Marines. And rather than a foreign enemy, or even a domestic one, it is being utilized as a terror organization in itself, one which seeks to cause pain and suffering for all immigrants regardless of whether they did things the “right” way or not. My great grandparents didn’t do things the “right” way because there was no right way back then. Facing the pogroms of Eastern Europe, discrimination because they were Jews, threats and acts of violence, they gathered all the money they could, came on a boat to Ellis Island, and after some time became citizens. It is
unconscionable to me that our government should use money to round up people based on skin color or nationality. Not content to find undocumented immigrants, this agency has kidnapped citizens and legal residents indiscriminately. We cannot stop what the federal government has ordered at the local level, but we cannot, we MUST NOT, aid them in their efforts. ICE has no place in our community and local PD has NO place protecting ICE officers, assisting them, and failing to 1 respond to residents who call police for help when confronted with masked armed men who fail to show any sort of
identification whatever
Thank you

Comments = Hello council members,
I am reaching out today to oppose ICE presence in our city. As a 30 plus year resident of this community, I am horrified to see what ICE has done in our and communities similar to ours. I vehemently oppose the wearing of mask/face coverings by “agent.” Agents wearing masks poses a threat to our community as we don’t know if they are truly agents or someone posing as one for other illegal activities.
I sincerely urge you to oppose masked agents terrorizing our community. I hope you take steps towards keeping our community safe that doesn’t include masked agents.
Sincerely,
Eileen E Reynoso
