Comments = We "Stand in Solidarity with Ventura County" . We thank Mayor Kildee and Councilmembers Martinez-Bravo and Santangelo for standing in support of immigrants rights, public safety and protecting our Constitutional Rights. We hope Councilmember Trembley and Vice Mayor Tennessen will also "Stand in Solidarity" with their fellow representatives.
ICE activity in Ventura County is not keeping our communities safer. Frankly, my family never thought we would see our federal government officials act in such a reckless, cruel and inhumane way. Masked unidentifiable agents, heavily armed, in unmarked vehicles, using racial profile targeting and arresting people without warrants is unacceptable. The unlawful actions of ICE officers and Customs and Border Patrol agents endanger our residents and traumatize families. Is this the America we live in now; where my wife and daughters need to live in fear because of their brown skin? Clearly, it is time to defend our democracy and constitutional rights that are being usurped by our federal government.
We are counting on Camarillo's City Council, Ventura County's Sheriff's Office, Camarillo's Police Officers and Ventura County District Attorney's Office to protect our rights, ensure public safety and fulfill their sworn Constitutional Oath.
