NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING

TAKE NOTICE, that the City of Camarillo City Council will conduct a public hearing on Wednesday, September 10, 2025, at 5:00 p.m., or soon thereafter in the Camarillo City Council Chambers, 601 Carmen Drive, Camarillo, California, on the following agenda item:

PROPOSED CAMARILLO GENERAL PLAN SAFETY ELEMENT UPDATE
The City Council will consider a resolution to adopt the Camarillo General Plan Safety Element Update. In accordance with California Government Code Section 65302(g), the Safety Element is one of the seven mandatory Elements of the City’s General Plan. The Safety Element establishes goals, objectives, and policies to reduce the potential short and long-term risk of death, injury, and property damage from natural and man -made hazards, including fires, floods, droughts, earthquakes, landslides, climate change, and other hazards.

The City reviewed the environmental impacts of the Project under the California Environmental Quality Act (Public Resources Code §§ 21000, et seq. “CEQA”) and the regulations promulgated thereunder (14 Cal. Code of Regs. §§ 15000, et seq., the “CEQA Guidelines”). CEQA Guidelines §§ 15060(c)(2), 15061(b)(3), and 15378 exempt activities that will not result in a direct or reasonably foreseeable indirect physical change in the environment, activities where there is possibility that it may have a significant effect on the environment, and activities that do not constitute a “project” as defined, respectively. The proposed Safety Element update is a policy document. No development is proposed and it can be seen with certainty that there is no possibility that the proposed Safety Element update may have a significant effect on the environment and this activity is exempt from further review.

The City Council is requested to review the Safety Element Update, open a public hearing, accept public input, and formulate a decision.

The City Council may make recommendations or other adjustments deemed to be appropriate. Any person interested in this matter is invited to attend and provide comments on the proposed action. If you challenge the proposed action in court, you may be limited to raising only those issues raised at the meeting verbally or in writing.
