BACKGROUND
Staff provides the Library Board of Trustees monthly updates on activities at the Camarillo Public Library.
DISCUSSION
A Library & RFBC Activity Report for December is included as Attachment 1, featuring Library Highlights, Professional Development, Literacy/ESL and updates on the Russell Fischer Business Collection (RFBC).
The Library acquired a new 12-bay laptop dispenser to provide modern technology and greater flexibility for library patrons. The dispenser is located on the second floor and allows patrons to check out a laptop for use anywhere in the library building. When a patron has completed their computer session, the laptop is returned to the dispenser, where it is charged and prepared for the next patron.
Later this Spring, the Library will redesign the existing Tech Lab into “The Work Space,” which will allow small groups of up to fifteen people to book a meeting space for business and educational needs. The Work Space will include technology upgrades such as a smart board for virtual meetings and offer modular furniture for room flexibility. These technological enhancements support the City of Camarillo’s Strategic Plan by ensuring the City’s technology and facilities promote efficient operations and public engagement. The City of Camarillo approved these technology enhancements in this fiscal year’s budget.
